[00:13] Opening Introduction

Aloha and welcome to Your Heart Magic, an illuminating space where psychology, spirituality and heart wisdom meet. Here's your host, Dr. BethAnne Kapansky-Wright, the clinical psychologist with a mystic mind.

[00:33] Introduction From BethAnne

Aloha everyone. This is Dr. BethAnne Kapansky-Wright. Welcome back to Your Heart Magic.

We are talking about the Akashic Records today, a topic that I love so much. I had a hard time grounding the content for this podcast to try and not do too much in too short of a time.

Before we dive into what the Records are, I want to piggyback on last week's episode where we talked about the idea, why can't we be mystic-minded?

And one of the ideas behind this whole podcast is that we are being mystic-minded, we are practicing what we talked about in that episode, we are practicing being open-minded, we are practicing learning about new ideas and what kinds of information might present themselves in those ideas when it comes to spiritual concepts.

And I encourage anybody who listens to this - especially if you've never heard of the Records - but you're interested, to take what resonates with your heart and stay open to the wisdom that the Akashic Records might have for you.

It is difficult to share spiritual concepts that you can't scientifically prove - they have to be experienced and passed down through word of mouth and storytelling and writings and experience. So, anything I share today is my present understanding of the Records, based on my direct experience with the Records.

I have likely picked up a few bits and pieces throughout the years of things I've heard others say, but I came into the Records in an unusual way. And I likely have my own approach to working with them. So, most of what I'm presenting has come from my own direct experience.

And at present, this is my best understanding of what the Records are about. So, we will be diving into what are they? What are the Akashic Records about? And how do we understand the Records? How can we take something so esoteric and metaphysical and break it down into something digestible, that we can understand in our minds, and that actually feels like it has practical application to our daily lives in our modern-day world?

I will be sharing my experience with the Records - how I got into them and heard about them in the first place, and how I eventually stepped into a different role of working with them and offering readings and doing some readings on behalf of the collective.

And we will do some pretty fun q&a about the Akashic Records where I will be looking at commonly asked questions, and the answers to those questions, and then discussing a little bit about how you can get to work with your own records if you feel drawn to this and want to learn more about them.

[3:55] What Are The Akashic Records?

So with that, let's dive into the light of the Akashic Records. So, the first question or the first part of this is: what are the Akashic Records?

And the word Akashic is from the root word Akasha. It is Sanskrit. And typically, that word, if you Google Sanskrit and Google Akasha, mostly what will come up is that it means ‘the ether of space - of the sky’.

But I found a fun definition today when I did a Google search on it from - it was just dictionary.com. And it said that Akasha means ‘primary substance’ in Sanskrit, ‘that out of which all things are formed.’

And I thought that was really beautiful and is a very apt description for what the Records are - because the Akashic field - one way that we might think about it is that it is the field of possibility - the field of energy, the field of things that might come to be and the Records themselves are -the best way that I have gotten to think about them is like a giant energetic database that is filled with files on what has already passed, what is right now and what might come to be.

And you can think of this giant database as an energetic computer that has all sorts of files stored on it. And if you know how to access the file and where to look and how to get into it, you can gain access to certain information.

And you might also think about it as a giant library, where you walk into this huge library that has this incredible collection of books of - basically history - kind of what has come to pass, what has been, what is right now, and what might be. And you can pull a book down off the shelf, to ask to learn or to learn more about a topic. That's the best metaphor I have for describing the Records, which are not actually a physical thing. They are the ether, they are energetic, but I think it translates well to think of them in either of those two ways.

And the Records themselves hold information and data on all events. So, if something has already come to pass, the Records tend to be more cemented and the information they have on it, because it's already happened. If it is happening right now, there will be information on that. But there might be a little less of a certainty around that because not all of it has played out yet.

And anything that is a future event that might happen, the Records will show the possibilities around that, the energy around that, the likelihoods around that - they might not show you 100% certainty because the future is being written with every breath and every step that we take.

So, they're not a predictor of the future in this very cut and dried black and white way, but they can show you the possibilities of what might come to past.

[7:18] Why Would We Access The Records?

And why would we access the Records? We access them in order to gain higher information so that we can understand something from a higher perspective - the Records themselves are kept at a very high vibration. And they are what feels like a very high frequency whenever I'm working with them. I'm used to it by now. But sometimes I can feel a little bit buzzy - a little bit ungrounded, especially when I first started working with them. And I wasn't used to tuning into that. And that is the way that I think about it.

The Records are typically accessed through saying a prayer, it's often taught that we say it three times. And when that happens, the way that I think about it is if you were a radio station, trying to tune yourself into a certain frequency. When we try and work with the Records, we are tuning into the frequency of the Records. And when I said they're kept at a high vibration, the best way that I can describe them is that vibration is love.

It's this very unconditional pure space of love. So, they're incredibly fascinating to me. And I have found that they are very useful for helping, again, that higher perspective on events that might be happening in our day-to-day life. And that's really what they are intended for, for those who would work with them is to offer spirit’s perspective.

Or, again, just that higher consciousness perspective on something that might be going on that pertains to us living out our human lives. And the Records themselves can be accessed in many ways. But the three ways that I have most commonly used them is number one: individually.

You can access somebody's Akashic Records with the intention of going into their Akashic Records with their permission. So, if I were to be doing an Akashic reading for somebody, when I said the prayer, the intention would be that I am stepping into the Akashic Records of like for myself, it would be BethAnne Kapansky-Wright. That is my book of the Records.

So, they can be accessed for individuals so we can understand our own journeys, understand our own lives. Understand perhaps some of the things that have happened in the past and have a better sense of “why did this happen to me what spiritual lesson was, I perhaps meant to learn?”. Maybe it will give us wisdom – “I'm really struggling with this decision on my life right now. What guidance do the Records have for how to navigate it?”.

Sometimes the Records will often have things about our soul purpose, or why we're here, and what our next step might be. So, there's all sorts of information that can be gained from them.

And I've often found that no question is really too small, even something like “I'm really struggling in my relationship with so and so”. “And I'd like to not be - what do I need to know?”, you know, we can ask about those kinds of things. If we're doing it from a space of wanting to live in a more peaceful, authentic way.

The Records can also be accessed on behalf of the collective. So, I do a monthly newsletter called Akashic Magic. And that newsletter is a great example of accessing something for the collective. I will go in the month before the month actually happens - usually around mid-month. So, in mid-January of 2023, I took some time, and I opened the Records for February of 2023. And I asked questions about “what's the energy of February? How can we best navigate the energy at this time? What kinds of things do we need to know?”.

So, there are collective topics that umbrella all of us and influence all of us - you might think of these as the cosmic cycles, or the collective cycles or the collective themes - tapping into the collective unconsciousness is another way that some people think of the Akashic Records - with the intention of accessing something that applies to everyone, not just the individual. And then the fun in something like that is seeing how the message for the collective shows up for me this month on my individual journey.

And then the last way that I have worked with the Records is to access a certain theme or topic in order to better understand the wisdom or the energy around it. So, examples of that might be - I've opened the Records before on money, and actually understanding the energy of money as an exchange. And why is it so hard for so many of us - people get really tripped up - like if you start talking about money, it brings up a lot of psychological stuff for people. And there's a long history there behind that. And behind our perceptions of money and the history of money and how it's been utilized in the culture. All of those attitudes and beliefs come from somewhere. So, it was a really interesting thing to look up - I was wanting to better understand it at the time, so I could be in a more aligned place. And my own relationship with that.

I have opened them up for -  I did the topic once on empaths and narcissists and energy vampires -  and opened it up for that set topic of trying to understand the energetic exchange that might take place between what is often a relationship that many empaths have experienced, where they fall in love with the narcissist or sometimes empaths will say to me, “I feel like a magnet for energy vampires. And I don't know how, like, what am I doing to attract this?”.

So, I've opened it before for that. I've opened it before if I'm teaching a workshop on a specific topic, and I want to understand that topic to better present to the people I'm working with. I've opened the Akashic Records on the Akashic Records!

There's an article on my website - that's a q&a with the Akashic - I'll make sure to put a link down in the write up of this podcast. So, you can access it if you want to, but I actually open the Records to ask them questions about themselves, because they are a tremendous source of wisdom.

And what I found is that the information will come through in many ways - it comes through in metaphors. It comes through in sometimes a direct feeling, just knowing something - it comes through in images; it is very common for me to see some kind of image and if I'm doing the monthly reading for everybody, I might say something like “the Records opened this month with a picture of somebody sweeping up a room, and I had this feeling of putting things in order. And then I saw the words flash ordering life.” And I will go deeper into that. But often those things put together are saying the energy of this month is about organization. It's about cleaning up house, metaphorically, energetically, however, that applies to our lives.

So, the information comes through in these varied ways that you have to kind of learn how to interpret it, and how to work with it, and how the information is presenting itself so that I can try and communicate that in the best possible way for a listener to receive and to understand.

[15:21] My History With The Records

And that statement right there feels like a really nice segway to talk about my history with the Records and how I ended up working with them in the first place.

Let's rewind to the year 2014. And at that time, I was a few years past this massive spiritual awakening that I had had in my life around 2011. And I was really firmly both feet planted now in following my heart and being on a journey of the heart and really realizing that I am a soul and a spiritual being having that spiritual or having that human experience, as I believe Marianne Williamson said, and I had really been working on intuition development, I was reading archetype cards and tarot cards for people, and had started to realize that I was a pretty intuitive person.

And I was really open to experiencing others intuitive gifts, and I didn't know a lot about them. And I had - I think it was a friend of a friend - say to me, somebody I met, “oh my gosh, I had this really amazing experience, it was called this Akashic reading. And this woman that I take yoga from, you know, we got to talking after class. And she told me about this thing that she does, and I was really open”.

And this person went on to describe this really phenomenal experience she had where she felt like, there were things that came through in her time with this woman who, you know, was working with her Akashic Records, that couldn't have been knowing any way else.

And she was telling me about this wisdom gained and some of the perspective and what I really most remember about it is that it lit her up, like she was lighting up telling me about it. And even though she couldn't remember every single detail, and kept saying, “I wrote it down, so I didn't forget”, she kept saying “it was so helpful, it was so amazing. It was so wonderful”, and that drew my attention. I was like, “I don't know what that is. But that sounds like something that I want to know more about.”

And I was at a place in my life path, that I was really open to having that kind of experience. So I ended up getting the name and the phone number and I believe I must have reached out and contacted this individual somehow and set it up to come to the yoga studio she taught at and to kind of go to one of the side practice rooms and have this reading with her.

And I didn't know what I was stepping into-  I had not had an intuitive reading before, I don't believe - so this was all very new to me. And I remember her saying the prayer and just sitting there, just kind of wide open, being like “I don't know what's going to come through.” And she really set the tone saying - telling me what Akashic readings were.

And I remember her saying that some people think of it as tapping into the collective unconscious, sort of this collective database of information and ideas that exist in energetic form. And I just remember her saying “you take what resonated with you, take it all with a grain of salt, and just leave anything that didn't.” And I really liked her attitude. I liked that there wasn't this big attachment that she was going to somehow tell my fortune or my future, she was a really grounded person, very down to earth - I was just getting a good sense of what it was.

And when we actually did the reading itself, it wasn't how I thought it was going to be, I didn't know what to expect. But I figured she would tell me all these things about my current life. And she did and she didn't, the information came through in ways that I really didn't expect. Like when she opened my records, I remember specifically her saying that she had this image of me sitting like in a white robe, kind of like ancient Greece, you know, sitting on the steps of a temple and that I was learning from somebody and she said the words, “you have a place on the steps of the temple of love”. I didn't even know what that meant. And neither did she. She said to me, “I don't even know what that means. But I'm seeing it so clearly. I'm gonna give it to you.” So, like a good little student that I am, I'm sitting there taking my notes and I wrote it down. And over the years, I've remembered that image so many times because I specifically said earlier, I was already following my heart. I was on the journey of the heart. I had no idea that in about eight, nine years time, that I would be doing a podcast called Your Heart Magic, that I would be teaching people about Heart Wisdom and how to tap into their heart that I would be sitting here talking about how the Akashic Records are kept at the vibration of love.

And we will get into accessing the Records. But it is achingly simple to align with their frequency, they're kept at the frequency of love - I didn't know that I would start to teach on these concepts, I just really knew that I loved love. And I really liked hearts. And I was really drawn to anything that talked about the way of the heart or the energy of the heart or things having to do with the heart, and what the heart knows, I had no idea what was in store for me.

So, the Records sometimes will tell us something about ourselves. We might not always know what it means at the time. But as time goes on, that information might become more clear of how it is personally meaningful for us.

I had a lot of value from the reading with her. And so, over the next couple of years, I began to work with her. And maybe, like once a month, or every couple of months, I would have a session with her. And I wrote it all down, I still have all my notes from my time with her. She's no longer doing readings so I can't tell everybody who it is.

But I wrote all of it down. And it really helped me.

And during this whole time, it never dawned on me that I was meant to work with the Records. I don't think I even asked the question - it did not cross my mind to say “am I supposed to do this?”. I asked about all sorts of things. I asked about “am I supposed to be a writer? What am I going to write? Where am I supposed to write?”.

I asked about my soul plan. I asked about “will I always just be a psychologist? Or will I ever become more than that?”. I remember the answer really well on that one, because she could hear the Records laughing and saying like, “oh, honey, you could not not be a psychologist if you tried. It is like way too much in your blood. But yes, like you will evolve beyond this current practice and where you're at in your current understanding of psychology and your current career path - right now there is so much more to come for you”.

I asked about relationships; I asked about conflicts that I had, things I was struggling with. I asked about, you know, people that I'd had falling outs with, or maybe an axe or something like that. And I was trying to grip or grapple on my heart with making peace with something that was really hard to make peace with. I asked about all of it.

And then in the year 2016 - I have shared that I lost my brother Brent in January of that year. And I really knew that I needed the Records then and needed that wisdom because what was happening after that loss is I was growing so much spiritually. I was having these incredible intuitive and perceptive experiences of sensing Brent, my spiritual gifts were starting to - they wanted to take off - and I had no idea how to go about giving them room to fly.

Like how do you teach somebody to fly if they don't even know they have wings? And they don't have an instructor. Like I needed the wisdom of the Records. They were my doorway into a relationship with spirit.

And what happened in the year 2016, as I was having these experiences with Brent, wanting the spiritual growth, I'm simultaneously going through radical transformation inside of myself. I had made the decision that I wanted to be more -  that was the catalyst for deciding to close my physical practice in Alaska and close up our lives there and move to the island of Hawaii a year later - what happened is I really was relying on my readings. And my reader was going through a move, and she wasn't available. And I remember she was going to be like off grid because she was living her own life for three or four months or something like that. And I had big things going on that we'd been working on.

And we tried to do one last reading before she was relocating, and it fell through because she was really busy. And I was really in this place of like, “what do I do? What do I do?”. All the spiritual stuff happening and not really anywhere to put it, but I had been without even realizing it, learning vicariously for about three and a half years at that point, I guess two years, how the Records gave information to us -how to open the Records, how information might present itself - I had been learning the language of the Akashic Records vicariously without even trying to, just through the experience of having readings.

So, I remember it took about a couple tries, but I remember in August 2016 really saying “I wonder if I could open my own records?” and really starting down that path of learning to access my records and I won’t go into the first time I did - it was rather comical - let's just say that the Akashic Records have a sense of humor.

And it is not unlike them to give you some kind of jarring or shocking image that will like make you burst out laughing because they're also kept the frequency of joy. Right when we talk about higher frequencies love and joy, their high frequencies. And I was like, “okay, there's no way that my brain came up with that”. And from then on out, I began to gain competence working with them. And I spent some time just practicing and going into them. And I'll tell all of you that the first couple of months so that I felt like I had a superpower.

If you've ever wondered “what does it feel like?” when you see something like Spiderman or some, you know, Wonder Woman, or some movie where they wake up one day, and they've been transformed? That's the closest I've ever come to it. Because the minute I started working with the Records, I really got it. We are never alone. We are loved. We are watched over, we are guided, we are supported, we have so much team of support and love that is behind us.

And it was almost like fearful, like “will I lose this?”. You know, like, I think for a while, I would go in and ask at least one question every day. And there was always a little bit of anxiety of like, “what if it doesn't work this time? What if it doesn't work this time?”. But over the next month and a half or so I started to build this consistency. And I was doing it where I would write down what was coming to me. And I just felt so cherished and loved. And again, like I was walking around with this like big, beautiful secret. And you better believe when I say my spiritual gifts, like just kind of started to explode. You know, I was so open at that time and open to information.

And I started learning everything that I could about the Akashic Records, and studying as much as I could. So, I had a better understanding of the Records. And I really got a lot out of her name is - Jen Erimath - And she used to have, I believe it was akashictransformations.net - I'm not sure if the site is still up anymore. But she was - it was a phenomenal place that I learned a lot before I started doing this myself. So, thank you, if you ever hear this podcast!

And somewhere along the way, I realized that I was probably meant to do this for somebody else. And remember those first few readings I did them for friends, I did them for free. It took me a long time to even charge for one. It just didn't feel right, because I was still a student. I was an intern of the Akashic. And I was practicing and I was really freaked out, like “what if it doesn't work? And what if I have to write because I was writing for myself? What if I can't translate what I'm seeing and verbally speak it?” But those went pretty well. And I started to get some good feedback of like, “oh my gosh, like, how did you know that?”, you know, and I started to get these kinds of things. And all of that gave me confidence to develop that skill set and to work with the Records. And within a couple of years’ time, I really developed the confidence to do readings, to begin to offer readings - to ground it as a substantial offering that I did for people and offered Akashic readings.

And then around the year 2020, we were going through a lot of change, then a lot of change on the planet. We've been through COVID - it might have been 2019. I'm remembering I didn't write this down, my bad. But I remember that around that time. It was 2020. We've been through COVID. We were in the pandemic, we were going through all that stuff. The election was nuts that year, there was so much going on globally. And I think I did a reading for events of 2020. For myself, I shared it with a couple of trusted others. And it really started to hit me, I think I meant to do this and open up Records and a bigger way to share with other people.

And over the next one and a half; this is probably December 2020. What came through was what later became Akashic Magic in February of 2020, where I started to just open the records for the month ahead. That felt like an easy applicable thing. It didn't feel daunting. And I feel like that's information that I felt comfortable bringing through. There are some things that I'm not convinced that I'm meant to share just because I could potentially access them, and I'm going to get to that in just a minute with the q&a on the Akashic Records, but that felt like something helpful to watch the energy this month.

And it's really fun for me to see how and what the Records have to say about the month ahead, might echo or compliment something that might come through with an astrology forecast. There are other light workers out there who do different kinds of energy forecasts for the month ahead and the energy updates. And so, it can be really fun for me to see how the Records conceptualize it and to see where there might be some overlap.

And it's been so helpful. I've kept doing it. So that is kind of my arc of where we're at now. And I guess it's time to teach about these things, because I'm talking about it on this podcast.

[30:40] Q & A On The Akashic Records

So, with that, let's dive into some q&a. Some of the answers to these are from just as - I've said before, my own direct experience - my understanding, maybe something that I collected or read along the way; I try really hard to give credit if it's somebody else's work when I can. Some things - I think over time we just assimilate - forget where it came from. So, my apologies if I've done this, but a lot of this actually comes from the Records themselves. And these are answers that their Records gave me about some of these questions that I did a big q&a a few years back. So here are some commonly asked questions.

[31:11] Who Can Access The Records?

The answer to that is, anybody can access the Records, with the caveat that they have to be going in with the right intention. So, if you are identifying as a lightworker, spiritual being somebody who's on the spiritual journey, you know, if you're vibing, with the message here, and this kind of language works for you. And you're saying, I want the growth, you are probably somebody who can learn to access the Records. Somebody who wants to access the Records for nefarious reasons, or selfish reasons, or something that doesn't serve the highest good is not going to be granted access to the Records.

And the way this works is that when you say the prayer - and it's traditional that you say it three times - there are different versions of the prayer out there. There are different individuals who've written books and said, “this is the way the prayer has to be said”, I think the Records themselves is it - Edgar or Edward Casey was the one who originally really brought them into consciousness and did a lot of writing about them - I think he was - he goes away back - he's back like in the 70s, I'm not sure if it was 60s or 70s. Somewhere back in there - I apologize for anything wrong. I didn't look that up before I hopped on here.

But there's multiple versions of what the prayer is. I kind of have a hybrid based on what's worked for me. And tradition says that you have to say it three times - do you have to? In my experience, no, it's not like if you don't say it three times, you can't get in. It's not like a magic spell. We're not being dogmatic here. I've often find when I'm saying the prayer, the first time, I'm already feeling the Records opening, but it's tradition to say it three times. And because I want to be so respectful of the information, I'm asking permission to access. And because I want to make sure that I'm really tapped in, I appreciate the tradition of saying it three times. And so, I honor that and will continue to do so.

And again, it's about going in with that purity of heart. So if you are going in to retrieve information for yourself to have a better understanding of your own journey, or if you want to understand something in the collective, let's say you're actively working with your own records, and you say, “gosh, I wonder if I could access information the month of February myself or for the year 2023?”. And it's coming from a space with a purity of intention, there's a good possibility that you might be able to access that kind of record. It is an absolute yes when we're doing it for ourselves, it becomes a little bit more - less black and white - when we're doing it for other reasons.

And again, that comes into an intention. If you're going into the Records to open up somebody else's book of the Akashic without their permission, because you're basically wanting to like peep on their life, you will not be given access, and a lot of times nothing will come through or the person might feel really confused. I've actually never tried to do that. I've just read that before that that's what happened. And if there's ever been a time where I've not been like in the right brain space - if I've been sick and tried to open the Records - and I don't… I'm just not able to like to get in that day, usually I'll just get nothing or I'll feel kind of confused or kind of feel cloudy. So that's my assumption - that's what happens with the person. So, you who are listening to this can learn to work with your record - it is like building a muscle. And it's like learning a new language.

And the biggest block to working with the Records often is ourselves. Because we have a tendency to doubt ourselves. Last week on the podcast we were talking about how we develop the mystic mind. And some of the same blocks that we discussed last week apply to this, we second guess ourselves, we expect it to come through in a different way, it can be really hard to get out of our own way, especially if we're attached to what we might learn and just allow the information to flow through.

So for example, if I were to ask, “how is this book that I'm about to release going to do?”. And what I really hope the Records say is, “it's going to do great BethAnne and it's really going to take off and you're going to have a lot of book sales”, I might not be in a clear place to actually receive how the book is going to do. Maybe if I set expectations aside, what the Records might tell me is “it will do well. But what was most important is that you wrote this book, so that you could start to get your voice out there. So that you could become more confident as a writer” - the Records will tell us what we need to know for our highest good at that time. So, if we have a sort of ego driven thing that we're wanting to hear from them, and they have something else to tell us, it can be hard to receive that information.

And it's easy to miss because it's not coming in the way we expected it to and the other piece is just not understanding how the information comes through. So let's say you are trying to get into your records and you don't think you're getting anything. You say, “well, I tried really hard, I didn't get anything”. And maybe I'll say “well, like when you said the prayer and you set your intention, like what came through?” … “I don't know. Like I thought I kind of saw like stars, and I felt it felt like space. But I heard you say that once. And so, I just figured I was making it up. And that wasn't really my records.”

You don't know that's true. Just because you heard somebody else say it does not mean that you might not have that experience yourself. How do we learn a new language? Do you expect to just like - actually, if you're a linguist, you probably do - I am not great with foreign languages, I would never expect to pick up a book of Chinese without any kind of tutorial or listening to somebody say the characters and what they mean. And just look at it and somehow be able to divine what the meaning is - I would need to be taught, I would need to mimic what somebody - how they pronounced it. And maybe that pronunciation is how they save in their dialect. And there's a different dialect in different provinces, and they have a completely different accentuation or something like that - I would expect it to look the way I was taught. And that would be kind of my elementary level for beginning to work with the language.

So, just because we read it somewhere or heard of somebody else's experience doesn't mean that that's not a great starting point for us. And it doesn't mean that experience isn't real. And the best way to build that muscle is to keep an intuition journal. Keep a journal in general, I just kind of think of it as my book of spirit. It's my vocabulary of my experiences with spirit. And sometimes in my journal is my to-do list - I have to check off of ‘don't forget to switch the laundry, from the washer to the dryer’. I'm really bad at that. Anything goes in the journal. But it's a great place to make a note of ‘tried to open my records. This is what I saw wasn't sure if I could trust it.’ Great. That is such a good start. Next time you try again, you can write down any perceptions that come through. This is how we learn. And we often get in the way of ourselves because we expect ourselves to do it perfectly. Or we get really discouraged or we feel like we have to be right.

You know, last week we talked about this idea that a lot of people are afraid to work with this information because they're afraid that somehow, it's almost like there's this expectation that they have to do it perfectly. And if they're trying to learn how to work with the Angels or the Akashic Records, or how to read tarot cards, that somehow within two weeks time they're supposed to hang a shingle and be able to give readings.

It's like we give ourselves no grace to grow and no grace to be wrong. And no grace to say, “wow, I thought I knew what I was doing with this”. But over time I learned how to better discern a real experience from when my imagination is projecting. I have learned that if somebody asked me a question and it triggers something in my mind that maybe I imagined it. I might say something like “here's the first image that I saw” but that I know is where my brain immediately went. So, I'm just going to ask if the Records could give it to me in a different image, so I can know I'm receiving information for this person. And I'll just ask – “give it to me differently, help me see this in a different way”. And kind of what I'm asking is that I know that I wouldn't make it up. And they always answer, they always have a different way to present the information. And oftentimes, my initial impression was on the right track, every now and then they take it deeper, and maybe it was just my mind having a moment.

So, we stay open, we learn this is what being mystic-minded is all about. This is why we dialogue about this. And we learn from each other without having to have an attachment to “am I right?” and feeling like we have to be right. If we can't let go that attachment to being right, it becomes very hard for us to engage in this work and to be a student of this work. So, we are learning all of us, even those of us who might be doing things like a podcast - I'm still learning too. And if I learn more, that's helpful or learn that I was wrong on something I am going to tell everybody and say “my bad. Here's what I now understand”.

[41:30] What Is The Difference Between An Akashic Reading And A Psychic Reading?

Moving on our next question, what's the difference between an Akashic reading and a psychic reading? This is a great question.

Psychic readings, my understanding of them is that they really are about reading the energy around something. And for those who have some form of a psychic gift - an intuitive gift - there are so many ways that that gift can present itself. I have worked with individuals who see words, that's a cool one. There is a group of women - Sedona Soul Sisters – and Roz Reynolds, who, um, she actually sees words flash, I always thought that was really awesome. What a great way to see information, sometimes I'll see words, but like, that's really her thing.

There are other gifted psychics who might have pictures, they might sense energy, they might say, “I feel this”, they might say “this is what I'm hearing”. So information can present itself in many ways. Some are very sensory oriented. “Oh, I'm getting chills at my back. When I when I feel this, it feels like…” - I've worked with Ivory LaNoue from Sedona Soul Sisters, as well. And she will say, “oh, my gosh, I'm getting chills from your angels”. And she's really gifted with angelic communication. So, there's all these cool ways this information presents itself, the Akashic Records are a little bit more. They are like reading the book for yourself, as opposed to having a friend tell you about what the book said. That's my best understanding of them.

Sometimes the information that they give - you will be very grounded - it will be very practical, it can be very detail oriented, it can feel a little bit more clinical to me, which is probably why I like it as a psychologist, even though it can be really playful, and it can be really fun. They're really good about going in depth. So, if I say like, “help me understand why this happened”, in the Records themselves, I might say, “help me understand why I had this experience with so and so”. And what might come through is “well, you needed to learn about this kind of interaction and how to set better boundaries”, I could maybe ask the question, or maybe the Records would volunteer; this is common in the history of empaths of not having good boundaries - of having permeable boundaries.

Sometimes the Records will give me the history of something or a broader context for something, or maybe they'll tell me for somebody, “many lightworkers are going through this right now, you know, many of you are struggling with this particular issue. And here's the reason why”.

So, they're just filled with a lot of information. And they can feel similar to a psychic reading, but the way the information comes through feel slightly different. And again, there is the intention of going into the Records to get the information. If somebody is to ask me, “what's your intuition on this?”, I will energetically feel into it. I will sometimes say in my mind, “hey, angels, could you give me a picture to give to this person that feels different than when I'm in the Records?” and I specifically asked the Records for an image or for deeper information so the Records can be a little bit more in-depth. And I think it's very fascinating.

All of this I really enjoy if you can't tell how lit up my voice is - kind of really learning about the nuances and how this information comes through.

[45:01] Are There Any Limitations To What You Can Access?

Another question: are there limitations to what you can access?

We addressed this a little bit, but I want to address it more fully. And the answer is, of course, yes. And I already said that you will not be granted access to somebody else's records without their permission, you will not be granted access if you are going in for a purpose that's not really pure and of the highest good.

If you're wanting to know because you're going to go make a YouTube video to say to everybody, “hey, here's what the Akashic Records predict for you know, X event coming up, follow me”, I don't know that you're going to get the information that you're looking for - that to me does not feel like a pure intention, if you are using it to elevate yourself, and to somehow situate yourself as a fortune teller or guru.

When I say my prayer, it always is may whatever comes through be for the highest good. And basically, the rule that I have for myself is if I'm not in there for the highest good, I'm just - I'm not going in, that's just me, I've not actually tried to access them otherwise. But my sense is, if you did not have a loving purpose, and it really was for your gain - or your elevation - that you either would not be able to access it, or I think the information might not come through in a way that was really clear. And I would question, I think I would just question that information a little bit for a little bit more.

The other thing is, if even if you're going in with purity of intent, it might not be yours to know. So, I have, I will give you an example where I once had somebody who had traveled to Africa. And I wanted to know, they had some questions and the reading about their experiences. And some things that happened. And during the reading, part of what came out was, you know, some history of Africa itself. And that's about as far as I got, I wasn't trying to open the records on the history of Africa. But what I could feel was almost this sense of like, “that's all you need to know, like, you are not of this land, this is not your information to know, this is not kind of where you're traveling in the collective at this time. So we've given you what you need to know”. So, I kind of think this is the Restricted Section.

If anybody's a Harry Potter fan out there, they always talked about the Restricted Section in the library, but absolutely, the Records have got that. And there are some things - even if you're going in with a good intention - where it's just not your karmic history to know, it's not your history to know, you might not have good reason to know. And I trust the Records, if that's ever me that, you know, they kind of let me know. And I just have that sense of “that's about it”. That's really all that you need, you might gain limited information for the purpose of that reading.

[48:01] Who Is Behind The Records?

Now, that brings me to my last question - when I said the Records - and it's kind of like “well, who's behind the Records?”-   a lot of times I'll say the Records, almost like they're a person or a being. And oftentimes in the tradition of the Akashic Records, they talk about like the keepers of the Akashic Records. And there's sort of all this mystery around with “who are the keepers of the Records?”, traditional prayers will sometimes be like, “loved ones, masters and guides”, I think is the wording in the traditional prayer - keepers translates a little bit more to guardians to me. And they are really high-vibe angelic beings, who keep the Records and the energetic vibration that it needs to be in and who would be protectors of the Records.

So that if somebody who is trying to access them, who doesn't need to have access is kind of turned away. That's my best understanding of them. And that's very rudimentary. I have a feeling that if the spirit world was listening to this, they might laugh at the explanation that I just gave you. And that's okay.

I think being rudimentary and elementary is actually a great space for us to start with these concepts. But that's the best way to think about them as high-vibe angelic beings, light beings. They feel very Archangel-like to me, except different kinds of angelic presence. Seraphim - a part of Seraphim and the angels, it's that kind of very high, very pure, very loving vibration. So those are the guardians of the Records.

And when I go into them, I tend to just say -  “the Records say”, or like, “well, the Records are chuckling right now”, sometimes I will have a sense of maybe a differentiation of one of the keepers of the Records saying something, but a lot of times it feels more like this collective voice and this kind of collective that is giving this information.

[50:07] How Can We Access The Records?

Last question and this is where we will begin to wrap up for today. How can we, or how can someone learn to work with their Records?

This could be another entire podcast. But to keep it very simple, I'm going to break it down and make up several steps. Write this down:

Step one, learn about the Records.

Like I said earlier, I would not go pick up a book of Chinese and expect to be able to read it, if I learned nothing about it, I would study it, I might take a class, I might get an audio tape on how you say it - there is a tonne of amazing books out there, there's some just really great work that other spiritual workers have done. Or they've created a beautiful energetic gridwork of understanding for the Records - just really great stuff out there that is like their offering to the world.

And I don't have a specific recommendation. I often feel like if we can hop online and punch it in ourselves and do the work of seeing what are other people saying about that, that's actually a nice way to figure out “will this resonate for me? Does this seem credible?”, but I would say learn about it, read about it, listen to it, there is a couple of links that will be at the bottom of this that will take you to my own site, where I have a couple of the Q&A and Akashic Records 101 up, but open yourself to more information than just me learn what you can.

Because that is really how we learn our own thumbprint and our own way of accessing it. We take what resonates with us and what speaks to us. And maybe somebody else is saying it in a way that's different than me. And that's what kind of cues your brain in such as collect information - be a collector of information right now.

So that's the first way. And then I think the second way is to build the muscle. And I would start with just sitting down in your meditation time, putting your hand on your heart, and really saying a sincere prayer and maybe just start with guides, angels. Whatever it is, however you connect to spirit, with purity of intention and heart, “help me to understand my records”, maybe just start there. You don't even have to say the prayer. “Could you give me an image or feeling or something I need to know about my records?”, start with putting your hand on your heart and write down anything that comes through.

The other thing you could do is find the prayer printed out, say it three times and really set your intention before that. And I'll say one more thing about that in a minute. But you know, really go with the intention of going into the Records. And before you go into the Records, instead of expecting to access everything because like whoa - overwhelming. I've had somebody asked me before “do you just spend the entire day in their Records?”. And it's like, “no, I like being grounded”. And here like in this space, I love the Records. But there comes a point in time where I don't really need to know everything all at once my brain is limited, it can't handle it. And I'll get a headache after a while. And it's kind of fun just to digest and say “this is all I needed to know right now” and take the time to integrate it. Too much information is too much information, our brain will struggle to synthesize it.

So, I would keep it really simple. And maybe the intention is just that you go into the Records and all you say is “give me an image that helps me know I'm in my Akashic records or give me a feeling” and then write down whatever comes through.

And then, of course, we say a sincere thank you. “Thank you, you know, Records for what you gave me”. And we close the Records. Any book or tutorial will kind of tell you that we say a prayer to open them, we say your prayer to close them. So, we're really setting the intention and the circle around that.

Learn about them. You can do the hand on the heart and just start asking for you could even put the intention out there and say “I'm really intimidated to work with the Records. I want to learn more - spirit help bring into my periphery, into my awareness, information on the Records so that I'm directed and guided to the right people and the right sources”.  Say a prayer about it.

And then the last one is to practice - and if all you do is put your hand on your heart and practice the prayer and feel a profound sense of love or peace or joy. That's a win! I mean how often are we not in a vibration of love or peace or joy? If you feel more peaceful? Like take the win and say “okay, I know that I'm like - I'm in the periphery. Like I am feeling these good things” and don't beat yourself up if it doesn't come through how you expect it to.

And the last thing I was gonna say about that is when I talk about going in with an impurity or purity of heart, it doesn't mean your heart has to be perfect. It doesn't mean that if you're upset about something, and you try and clear the slate, like, this isn't like some science fiction movie, where you're going to be turned to dust. If you go in, and they're like, “your heart is not pure, you're holding anger at your coworker and you had road rage earlier today, you are not allowed in the Records” - like that is not how it works. It is more about the overall place of where your hearts at.

So, I will sometimes say “help me to set aside anything that's not in alignment, so that I can step into this from a place of openness and purity”. And the prayer that I say for the Records, one of the last things I say is “with hearts wide open, ready to receive”. And that's really the intention of the Records, we go in with hearts wide open, ready to receive spirituality and any of these concepts. It is not about being a perfect person. It is not about silencing all mental chatter. And being in some like bliss state where we don't get upset and we detach from ego. It's not about that.

It's about being a real person who is working on continuing to open your heart, move in the direction of love - trying to live more from the heart and connect with these higher perspective and ideas to further support you on the journey.

And in so you’ll have an amazing impact on the world around you. Because when we feel more supported and we are lit up, we just naturally start to light up a room. And it's easier for us to light up the spaces we inhabit.

[56:52] Thank You & Next Episode

Thank you so much for joining me today for the light of the Akashic Records. Love this topic. Tune in next week, we are talking about the topic: “I thought I was aligned AF. So, where's my flow?!”.

That actually looks much more fun written down when it says ‘I thought I was aligned AF so where's my flow?!’ and we will be talking about those times that you think you are doing everything - like you're following your guidance, you're in alignment, you think you should be rocking your spiritual path and it seems like everything is going wrong or you're feeling really lost and confused. And you start to question yourself - we're going to be looking at reasons that things might not quite be as flowy as we expect them to be and unpacking some of the myths around that, so we can stop blaming ourselves for things that sometimes, are actually going right, we just don't know it at the time.

So, tune in next week for that. And until then, be love, be well, be you, and be magic!
