[0:37] Introduction to Episode
Aloha, everybody, this is Dr. BethAnne Kapansky. Wright, you are listening to your heart match, Eric. Welcome, welcome. We are on our 22nd episode today. And our topic is building and aligned life. I'm smiling if you can't hear it in my face.
For many reasons, I love the number 22. It has such good energy. 22 is an angel number represents things being in alignment. It is a number that if you see it popping up, it will remind you that no matter how things seem, you know whether they're messy or falling into place, everything is being divinely ordered to help you build an aligned life. I'm also smiling, I'm looking at the time right now.
And it's 4:44, I'm making this 44 is an angel number that says angels are with us. So we have a blessed podcast happening today. But 22 is also the number of the master builder. It is the number in life path numbers that if your Birth Number, birthdate year and month, add up to 22 A lot of times it means a master builder.
[1:54] What is an Aligned Life?
And somebody who does like a lot of teaching a lot of building is very good at building structures and imparting that knowledge to others. And I did not intentionally plan to do this episode, like 22 and have this topic, just synchronicity and one of those things that was meant to be but I happen to be a 22 life path number. So that feels really fun today and a little bit magical. And we will be looking at what is an aligned life. That term is thrown around a lot in spiritual circles, aligning with energies of abundance or joy being in alignment with our truth.
And I think most of us when we listen to that have a sense of what that means. I don't think it's something that requires a hardcore definition, or that you can like Google and type into Wikipedia or something like that. But I think that part of building and aligned life is creating perspectives and mindsets and paradigms, to look at something that work for us instead of work against us.
So I think it's really valuable to sometimes dig into these phrases and figure out what exactly are we talking about here. And if we are trying to construct and align life, let's make sure that we are working with a mental construct of what that means that serves us and doesn't work against us. I'm a big believer that if words or concepts are not working for you, we get to redefine them, or find new language to help figure out well what will work for me, so that I feel supported and empowered to move my life forward.
So we will be looking at what isn't aligned life? How do we go about building one? How do we figure out if we're feeling really stuck? What's the next step to take? If life feels like it's really messy, and you're like I don't even know where to start. But this, isn't it? Where do you start and just digging into that a little bit more.
So with that, let's start with what isn't aligned to life, my understanding of unaligned life and some of this is information from the Akashic records. If you listen to this podcast regularly or if you're just joining us, and this is your first one. It is routine for me to open the Akashic records on just about every episode, every topic that we talk about, and I usually will open them up before I hop on here and make the podcast sometimes I will do very formal channeling where I ask specific questions.
Sometimes I will just invite the records into the podcast and say inspire me and bring through what you want everyone to know. But when I touched base with the records and said what is an aligned life, the definition that they gave us was really living a life that feels like It gets in coherence and Integrity with your understanding of self. And coherence. And integrity means that who you are on the inside, who you understand yourself to be that your external life reflects that, that you are living in such a way that you feel like your insides match or outside is sometimes how I put that. Now, there's some caveats in that, because there are times that we're not in the position to have the freedom to align our lives in that way. And that can definitely cause us some conflict. So we'll talk about that a little bit more.
But as a general rule of thumb, and aligned life is if you understand yourself to be somebody who is living, open hearted, trying to live authentically trying to be a person of the light, those who listen to this podcast probably line up with all of those things, you feel like you are living in the world in a way that reflects those values. Doesn't have to be perfect. There's no saints here. This is not what we're about not about perfection. It's just about saying, overall, when I look at the month and review, when I look at what I'm doing with my life at this time, do I feel like who I am reflects that?
And if it's not reflecting that, why not? What's out of sync, what is not in harmony, what is not in balance in my life, and what can I do about that. So I really want to point out that in this working definition that we're using, this isn't just about being in coherence and integrity, as if that is a static thing. And we are always in coherence and integrity, and always living aligned.
[6:49] How our Understanding of Ourselves Changes
Part two of this definition was incoherence and integrity, with our understanding of ourselves at the time. That can change. And that is why when we are building a life, and trying to live in an aligned way on the path, we do lots of recalibration work, we do a lot of assessment work, we might make a lot of shifts, we might go one way and realize that we think it would be better to go another, our understanding of ourselves changes over time. And that is a reflection of many things. It's a reflection of our psychological development, and our relationship to our biological age, what is going on in the cohort group around us and the collective around us how we're interacting with the world. It is about our psyche, and our emotional life and our spiritual life and our inner life.
And that is something that changes. And I really see all of us being on a journey that is more of a inward spiral, that the longer that we keep journeying and trying to live with authenticity and truth, the deeper we go into our relationship with ourselves. And there are some wisdoms and some things that we just can't know about ourself until we cross the certain thresholds until we reach a certain age or have a certain experience, or have some form of cumulative experiences that allow us to see something that we just wasn't the right timing before.
So that understanding changes as a reflection of our psychological development, or emotional development, or spiritual development. And there's many things that are multi dimensional, that allow us to have a fluid identity over time. So as that shifts, we shift, and that is why sometimes what was working for you six months ago or a year ago, might no longer be working now. Or you might start to have a sense of disharmony, or feeling like things are out of balance.
And I think the word that underscores this idea of building and aligned life in today's episode is really about balance. It is about harmony. It's not about perfection. It is about bringing into balance and harmony, again, who you are inside, and where you are, how you are showing that to the world.
And it's recognizing that when those things feel imbalanced, or you don't feel harmonious or something feels in conflict, opening up to doing the work and asking, Well, what's going on here that I don't feel like I'm living according to my most authentic version of self.
So that's what building and aligned life is all about. What it's not about is being perfect. It's not about a one time deal, where you do all this work. and you go through a spiritual awakening, and you become a more authentic version of self. And then you just get to like, chill out and live aligned. You know, one of the things that can be really shocking to individuals on the spiritual path is they go through something that feels like a massive awakening, some kind of disruption in consciousness.
And many times this can really create something in their life that feels chaotic or catastrophic. They go through a divorce, they leave a job, they make a big move, maybe they just do a huge identity shift. And that results in getting new friends or leaving behind some things that they used to do. And often when we're doing that, and we are realigning our life, it's a lot of work. I've been through that I've talked about my divorce on here a lot. I've talked about moving to Hawaii, and closing down life and Alaska and coming over to this island. And I shared very openly about times in my life that I haven't felt aligned.
And I've been called into a reckoning, called into this coming face to face with myself. And really going through this shattering of this old shell of who I thought I was how I understood my life. The shell is the container that I had created around my life. And I've been called into some kind of bigger version of Batman or a new version of Batman. And sometimes it's asked me to do big, scary leaps and make big changes. And oftentimes, when we've been through that, we come out the other side, we feel a little bit like a spiritual badass, like if I've been through that I can do anything. And there's truth in that those experiences allow us to like really rock some spiritual Mojo. And we should have confidence in ourselves.
If we have been listening to something inside of us and asked us to do something big or brave, and asked us to make a change. That is something that can feel very empowering. At the same time. Sometimes we feel like I've been through the fire, I've been the Phoenix for born, you know, I shed my feathers, I went to ashes. And now I've like rebuilt myself. And then something else comes along. And we find ourselves going through this reckoning again.
And sometimes that can be really shocking, like, how is this happening? Again, I thought I just went through this. And that's because our life is really fluid we live on a creative planet Change is the only constant we are guaranteed this, we know this, everything is in flux around us. We are in flux and our identities are in flux. And yet, we tend to be shocked when things shift and are in flux. And we too are in flux. And we're going through some sort of change.
[12:45] The Power of Choice & Empowerment
So when we think about living and aligned life, one of the things that I think we really need is this not only embracing change, but just accepting it as like this is a condition of alignment, things around me are changing, I will always be changing. And part of being aligned isn't like being on the straight and narrow and setting myself on this path and I can't deviate from it or fall off or I'm going to miss the boat. It's really about working with these energies of fluidity change and continually cutting back into ourselves.
One of the things that the records brought up, that I find very powerful is that part of living and aligned life is about the power of choice. And we are meant to have choices on our human journey. As souls having this experience of being spiritual beings on a human journey in this material world. We are meant to understand the power of choice, and we're meant to feel empowered to choose. Last week we talked about manifestation and using our imagination to manifest on the podcast. And the Akashic Record said that Choose Your Own Adventure is the catchphrase for how to think about how we imagine and how we manifest that there is this empowerment that we get to think about? What would an aligned life look like? What do I want to manifest based on the dreams in my heart, we are meant to feel empowered to be agents of change and to make choices.
And sometimes that can feel very liberating. Sometimes that can feel very overwhelming. And sometimes even when we feel like we don't have a choice, there's almost always a choice. The problem is we often don't like our choices or feel like we can't choose them. You know, sometimes we feel really stuck and in order to make a different choice to move ourselves out of those circumstances. It might mean really upsetting the applecart and you know, kind of knocking down a whole house cards that we built around us.
So we might not always like our choices, but we do always have a choice. And we are really empowered to think about the fact that our choices are part of our experiential learning. And as souls we are here to have experiential learning, meaning part of how we learn and grow is through experience. It's not just through logic, and reading a book and listening to wisdom, and learning from what other people have done and saying, Wow, that didn't work out for them.
So I'm not going to do that, or this person gave me these 10 principles of aligned living. And so I'm going to try and do those things. Those are all good things to do. We are meant to use our noodles to use our intellect of our mind, we're meant to use our brain to learn and to use that good logic and good intellect and all those gifts that we have of mental energy. We're meant to use all those things. But we are also meant to just have like human experiences. And we're meant to learn, well, what happens if I go over here? What is that experience like? And what happens if I go this way? What is that experience, like the soul delights at new experiences. And humanly, many of us delight at new experiences, there are some personalities that like predictability, and don't like change Capricorns, I see you out there.
But for many people, we like new experiences, and even somebody who likes a degree of predictability and change usually still like some sort of shifting every now and then, you know, somebody who is into their routine, usually still like something like take a vacation, take a mental break, take a change of scenery, you know, we can't fight this concept of change and the condition of change in this world. And we are meant to experience our changes and experience our choices and learn from those choices.
So even if we veer off the path, and we make a choice that we might logically, no, this is not a good thing for me to do. There is still experience to be gained from that. And one of the perspectives that I really enjoy is thinking of myself as an experienced collector. I love this mindset, because I figure if I'm an experienced collector, then I'm here to collect experiences, which means all experiences are a value. So I can't really collect an experience that's wrong or bad somehow.
So if something doesn't work out, something that I will sometimes come back to is like, well, you collected another experience, it might not have been a particularly good one. Or it might have been a really challenging one. But like this was a another thing that went into your collection box of experiences as a human experiences as a soul. And that is always a good thing we are collecting and integrating and bringing those things into us. It's how we find our growth.
[18:17] Staying in Our Empowerment and Choice
And it is important that we stay in that energy of empowerment with choices. Sometimes choice is very overwhelming. But if we can stay in a place of recognizing, like I get to choose, like it's my right to choose, it's my privilege to choose, it is my personal responsibility to choose. I am not trapped, I get to make a choice. Often that really shifts the energy around something for us. Even if we don't like our choices, we can look and say, Well, if I went and did this, I would be much happier if let's say you don't like your job, but you're not ready to just up and quit because you don't have something else lined up and you have bills to pay.
You are empowered to choose to quit if you wanted to. You can make that choice. And you might feel really frustrated because you're not in a position to make that choice. And you might focus on the frustration of I hate this job so much. I don't really want to be doing it. I have to do it right now or I feel really trapped in it, you can shift your focus there. And certainly those are valid feelings to have. We're not invalidating feelings here. But if your focus is on that all the time, you're probably going to stay in a place of feeling kind of victimized and trapped with that job. And you're going to stay in a place where your energy probably feels really constricted.
Because when we are in a space of feeling victimized or feeling really trapped or feeling constricted, usually our energy is not as free flowing. It's not open. A lot of times we might feel more negative. A lot of times we might feel like we are If not, is open to the possibility of life. You could also empower yourself and say, You know what, I'm choosing this right now. It's not where I want to be long term. I don't love it. There's things about it that are not aligned, you can be honest about that. But you can say what I really love myself, I respect myself, and I want to be able to provide what I need to pay my bills, that would feel really stressful not to have that I just don't want to put myself in that position.
So I am going to empower this right now, or I'm going to do this thing, it's an act of self love. Maybe there's a little bit of sacrifice in there, because it's not my favorite thing of all time. But I'm gonna do this out of self respect, and self love, like I choose myself in this moment. And right now, my self says that until I have something else lined up, I don't feel good about just walking away. Sometimes the universe will force our hand, I definitely have found with spirit that there's times that if we're staying in something too long life kind of forces our hand, and it falls apart anyways.
But more often than not, what I have found is that the energy kind of pauses as we're working through something. And when we come to that space of acceptance, a lot of times energy opens up. What's amazing, is coming to a place of more peace and acceptance about something sometimes is what creates the shift that we wanted so much in the first place. I remember years ago, ces about couple of maybe a year or so after my divorce. And I was renting space, I stayed in the same building in Alaska for a long time, with my private practice, and I had this nice big office with a big weight room. And, you know, it wasn't like the plushest office ever, I'm laughing, if you could see this building, it wasn't a bad building.
But it certainly wasn't like high rise skyscraper super posh or anything like that. But it was a nice office, it was one of the nicer offices in the building, and it had a lot of space. And what happened was they raised the rent, and they raised it quite a bit. And I was in a position where I was had gone through a divorce, I was supporting myself in my practice. But prior to the divorce, I hadn't had to work as much I had the kind of luxury and comfort of not doing that. Sometimes that happens with shared incomes, but I was on my own.
And so they raised the rent quite a bit. And I had more expenses than I ever had. I was going through a huge learning curve and personal finances and money management and really coming into my own as an adult in those kinds of matters. And having just a lot of growth. There's a lot of things I didn't know that I learned through experience. And so what happened when they raised the rent is I think my rent went up substantially. And I'm looking at what they wanted to charge. They hadn't raised it in a long time. And I'm thinking No way. And I didn't want to move office buildings. That was a lot of work. And it's a big shake up for clients. And I wasn't sure what to do.
[23:17] Changing My Story to Empower Choice
And what finally happened is I think I talked to one of the admin people or receptionist or something at the front desk, and was like, What are my options here. And so there was a different office that was going to be for rent, there was still a weight room attached, it was really small, I had to share it with other clinicians.
And I remember really vividly that part of me felt like a failure. You know, this is about a year and a half, maybe two years after my divorce. And I felt like I had a lot to prove. In my wounded ego stuff was like that I need to show that I can make it on my own, I need to show I'm okay. You know, when I went through that time in my life, I really took a step back from kind of leaving behind this very secure life I've been creating for myself and just venturing out into unchartered territory, to really find my true self talk about building an aligned life. I mean, that was a really major change. And so I still had this old way of looking at things where, you know, two years earlier, from the outside looking in, I looked like I had it all, whatever that means.
But you know, we use that phrase when somebody looks like they've got all the things that we think that we could want or that make a good life. You know, kind of from a superficial perspective, and I had really struggled with being like I no longer like own a home. I'm renting space in the bottom of a townhouse and it was really small space. I call those my rainbow shoe box rooms because they are really tiny.
And, you know, I had to downsize my office and So I felt this sense of humility come through, just maybe a little bit of shame mixed in. And some of that had to do with some of the judgment that had happened. When I'd come through that period in my life. You know, I definitely had this perception that some people were like, you know, she's gonna strike out all on her own, and she's going to fail. So like I said, I felt like I had something to prove. And I remember what really helped me make a shift. When I decided to rent this space that basically my rent stayed the same I just lost a lot of space, is I tried to see it as an act of self love.
And I really looked at it is I love myself enough not to saddle myself with like this giant bill, that's going to take even more money out every month, I love myself enough, and I respect myself enough to be a little bit more humble, have a little bit more of a humble space, I will still make it super warm and cozy, and to free up a little bit of space with some of my monthly fees and monthly obligations. And I actively worked on having that perspective.
And every time that I felt a sense of anything negative towards having to make that move, I flipped it. And I empowered myself to make a choice. Now, you wouldn't be surprised to know what happened. That about within like two to three months of moving into this office, it's like the floodgates opened on my practice. And all of a sudden, and I had like so many referrals, I had so much business coming through, I could have stayed in the old office. At that point, I wasn't interested, I didn't want it, I moved into my new little space, I liked the fact that I wasn't having to pay more.
And there was this like openness to the energy and it just flowed through. So it is surprising that when we can align ourselves with feeling empowered for choice, even if it's a choice that we don't love, but we can figure out a mindset shift and a heart shift, to make it feel more positive to make it be in alignment, to know why we're choosing it.
And the choice why we're choosing it aligns with us. That right there is how we build an aligned life. It's not about making perfect choices. It's about knowing why you choose something. And if you're making a choice, that isn't your favorite choice, it's about finding a perspective that can be aligned. So that kind of brings me into my next point, when we are building this align life, and that is this idea of really doing an honest assessment, and understanding our motivations for the things that we do.
Again, this is not about being perfect, I do not expect somebody listening to this to sit down and do an assessment on every aspect of their life and know every single motivation, part of our experiential growth and learning is discovering ourselves as we go. Sometimes we don't even realize we had a hidden motivation, or something in us until it's brought to our attention or life kind of brings it into our path. But it is about noticing when something feels non harmonious with us, and really doing an assessment of what feels off about this.
[28:18] Overcoming Disharmony to Create Alignment
So with my office example, I had conflict, I felt like I was taking a step back, I felt kind of embarrassed. Like I had this big kind of luxury office for that building. It was one of the nicer offices in that building. And now like I'm going down the hall, it's like I knew from like first class to third class, the back of the plane. Even my office was like really close to the end of the hall. You know, and I really had to work on, I could have stayed in that place of feeling like I gotta get the old way back, you know, but that was what was causing me disharmony.
And so the assessment that I did was like, well, it's not really practical with them raising the rates to stay in this space, you don't really need that much space. I worked with individuals. It's not like I was holding giant in groups that I needed this like massive office space or this big weight from and part of what was disharmonious was that sense of shame or embarrassment. Because at that point on my journey, a bigger part of me was actually really proud of myself. I worked really hard during that time in my life to be the most authentic BethAnne I knew to be, and I made really hard choices.
And I made really open hearted choices at that time. I risked being seen as somebody who had kind of fallen apart and was going through this like, breaking of my life and reconstructing it. And some of that happened where it was, I wouldn't say public knowledge that makes me sound like a celebrity or something but I was from a smaller town.
So there had been gossip around my divorce. Then there was some really ugly things with that. And so I gone through these massive changes. And it would have been so easy to say this is too much. I don't want to risk my reputation going through this, I don't want to risk people assuming things about me that aren't true. I don't want to risk striking out on my own and having to completely start over financially from everything that I've been building, you know, with somebody else, I don't want to risk any of those things. I don't want to risk having to go through letting go and letting my old identity fall apart and reconstructing who I am and figuring that out. And I did I let go of all of it. And so I actually worked really hard to be this person.
[30:46] What Story Do You Want to Choose
And when I really saw that I was like, what story do you want to choose? Do you want to choose the old story that somehow this is a step back because you downscaled your office? Or do you want to write a new story about it, I wanted the new story. That's why I decided to see it as an act of self love.
And so I came into alignment with my choice, I came into aligning myself with the energy that I wanted to see in my life. And that was feeling loved and feeling respected. And knowing that I can be my own hero, and I will go to bat for myself time after time, and make choices that move me forward. And the way that feels healthiest to me, regardless of how it looks on the outside. And once I aligned with that inner intention, everything else shifted.
So when we do an assessment, that's the stuff we want to look at, where is our heart in the matter. And if we don't like the story that we're telling us about something, then can we give ourselves a new story that lines us up with who we want to be in the world. So an example of that might be somebody who is in conflict and a relationship that they're in this is a really common one for people where they might be in a relationship, and they don't necessarily feel that it's aligned. But they might not feel like they're in a position to do something about it. And that could be lots of reasons. Maybe there's kids involved, maybe there is a financial fear, maybe there's aging parents, or you're caretaking somebody and you feel like I've got all these people, depending on me. And if I dropped the ball on this, a lot is going to fall apart. Your reasons don't matter to me, they matter to you.
What matters is that you know your reasons, and that you're not lying to yourself about your reasons. And if you can say, You know what, maybe someday I hope I can find freedom from this. But right now, it's not the time I don't have clarity or peace in my heart about that. And so I'm choosing to be in this for these reasons. And these reasons feel right to me, they feel good to me, I'm choosing to be in it, because I trust my future self to figure it out. And I have no peace of heart right now. And as long as I have no peace of heart about making a choice to leave, then I'm not going to rock my life or throw everything up in the air, you know, and make this radical choice. Do you hear the freedom there? It's not about it has to be this way, or it has to be that way.
And I think sometimes there's fear and spiritual circles, that if we are in something that feels a little bit conflicted to us, that we are somehow doing it wrong. And as a psychologist, I've definitely seen people throughout the years being something that might not reflect their true self, but they have a really good motivation for still being in it. And I really believe that our soul has a process all of its own. And when the time comes to leave, it will let you know, like I said, sometimes spirit forces your hand or life forces your hand or your angels are kinda like, Okay, I hear you, but we're going to move things along a little bit. So there can be divine timing in the works. You know, but I really trust that innately. So many of us, we know what we need, we have our own sense of timing, our soul has its own sense of timing.
And so sometimes we know that we'd like to line our life up in a different way and that something doesn't quite feel right. But the timing might not quite be there. And I just believe in being able to be honest with ourselves and to look at that and observe it and just see it for what it is. I feel like when we shame ourselves from that. We shut it down and then we're not facing our truth. I feel like when we try and justify our truth that doesn't do us much good either. You know, sometimes we paint a pretty picture on something that might not feel too pretty to us.
So I think our best course forward is just to be honest and to trust our soul has a timing and a rhythm all it's own, we are living in a world of constant change, but there's intelligence in it. Nature has intelligence cycles have intelligence, the seasons have intelligence, and our soul has intelligence, our soul is the part of us that is always connected to spirit to source to the many lifetimes that we've lived to the greater collection of experiences that we've had as a soul.
So we can trust that timing. So if nothing else, if something comes up for me, and I feel like there's a little bit of conflict around it, and I don't feel like I can make a choice. In my outer world, sometimes what I'll just do is say, Well, I just choose to stay with myself. And I choose to trust myself. And I choose to trust that I'm in process right now, things are under construction. And I don't know where I'm going to look like at the end of this, but I trust my future self to figure it out, I trust the universe, and I angels have my back. I trust that God loves me, creator loves me that there's this unconditional loving energy in the universe, however you think about higher powers and the mysteries, and I'm going to trust the bigger process of life and just surrender to the flow for a while.
[36:17] How to Align Your Life With the Energy You Wish to See
So we can always find a way to work with our lives exactly where they're at, and bring those pieces into alignment. And we can always do that. And there's times that when we're doing that, we will feel called to make an active choice. And it will be very clear to us. And it's not always dramatic, some of what I've shared today about my own experience with building an online life, these were massive changes that I went through.
But a lot of times building and align life is about small changes. It's about on a daily basis, lining up with the energies that we wish to see. So if part of an online life for us is I will I want a lot of abundance in my life. Who doesn't want abundance? You know, I want to be a really grateful person, I want to be a happy person, how can we line up with those energies on a day to day basis, if you've had a really hard day, and you've had an unhappy day? Because crap happened, as it does in life? And so you're kind of feeling crappy? How can you shift that in the evening? And maybe be like, what's going right? At the moment? You know, can you make the gratitude list?
Can you focus on something that was positive, maybe you just say I give myself a pass on today. But tomorrow, I'm going to wake up and tell myself, I'm gonna have a great day to day. And I'm going to focus on the good. So a lot of times aligning our life with the energies that we want to see in it that's actually really small. And those are an accumulation of choices that we make on a day to day basis. And when we're making those choices, we're doing a couple things. One, we are creating neural pathways in our brain that make those ways of thinking and feeling a little bit more automatic over time.
So if gratitude is not our setpoint, we create pathways of gratitude and our life by being grateful. And sometimes we have to exercise our minds and our gratitude muscle a little bit before it becomes automatic. Sometimes we can be innately grateful. But a lot of times I think that part of the condition of being human is a bit of this like innate dissatisfaction with life. I also think some of that is a reflection of where we're at in our modern day age, and how complicated our lifes are. So I think sometimes we have to work at gratitude and work at finding gratitude and work at creating that roadmap and blueprint inside of ourselves.
So when we do that we create the neural pathways, we teach our body. This is what feeling grateful feels like when I make this list. How do I feel inside, we are teaching our cellular memory and our emotional memory and our somatic memory. This is where I feel gratitude in my body. This is my gateway into gratitude. If I want to open up a channel for gratitude, I do this practice, I connect with the energy of gratitude and it starts to become more natural for me.
So oftentimes, it's the small things that help line us up with what we want to create in our lives. Something else that is very helpful to do. I'm smiling, I just looked at the clock and it's 222 on our 22nd episode, we were talking about the number 22 and building an online life. How perfect is that? Thanks for celebrating the angel numbers with me for those of you out there who are into those as well. But back to what I was saying something else that we can do Is to really envision what would an authentic life look like to me. And I really love this practice.
So when we think about billing and aligned life, we want to do the inventory. And that is really looking at what's the foundation I'm building on? Like, what practices am I building in my life? What choices Am I making in my life, if I am creating a firm foundation for myself to move forward in my life, what's that foundation. And when we notice that something in that foundation is off, or needs shoring up or needs replacing, we do that work in order to study our foundation. So that is kind of building from like the bottom up, right, you don't build a giant Cathedral on top of a like just the dirt or something like that without pouring the cement, and pouring a foundation. And we have to start at the bottom and work our way up from there.
But when we envision that is a little bit of like calling in alignment from the top down, we open our mind up, we open our crown chakra, we open up our Akashic records, we open up our hearts, and we think about what is the best life that I can envision for myself. And when we do that, that is what allows us to tap into the idea of using our imagination to manifest a life that feels more authentic. That is when we really open our spiritual connection, and we open to inspiration, and open to the possibilities of who we could be. So if you're feeling stuck, there is always somewhere that you can look in your life and address it, we can always do some foundational work, we can always open up and do some visualization work and do some manifestation work.
Since we are talking about balance and harmony today, I think we need both. I think that we need to open to the vision and keep thinking about how can I be my most authentic self, and bringing those ideas into our life. And then I think we need that foundational work at the day to day of just going about figuring out what's the next step that I take. If we have too much of one, then all we have is all of these great visions about who we could be and what authenticity looks like. And we struggle to make any decisions. If we don't have a foundation, we just stay in that envisioning phase.
And a lot of times, that's where you get people who talk about all these big dreams, but they never take a step towards it. If we always stay in the foundational building phase, and we're always looking at the nitty gritty, and we don't open ourselves up to a bigger possibility than sometimes we are limiting ourselves and limiting the possibility of who we could become. So going back to the words balance and harmony, we need both. That's how we build the aligned life.
[43:05] The Power of Envisioning
And I love the practice of thinking, what do I want my life to look like three months from now? What do I want it to look like six months from now. And something that I've learned that is helpful to do is to envision something that feels like a little bit of a reach, but also feels realistic.
So if you want your life to look like a 180, from where it is right now, that's not impossible, that's probably going to take some work to make it happen. You know, so maybe if what you are wanting to see in your life is we'll say well go bring it and go back to the job. We're back to the example of you're in this job, you're making the paycheck, but you don't love it, and where you would like your life to be six months from now as you would really like a new job.
So you have a couple of possibilities. You can envision being somewhere and doing what makes you happy. If you have an idea of what that is, maybe you envision that and you just see yourself at this place and you're in this role and you're in this position. And you see yourself just feeling very like aligned very in jive with what you're doing. Maybe you don't know what the new job is. But you know that you want it to be like with really nice people maybe you know, you'd like to work from home the whole time. Maybe you know that you would like to be in a slightly different field.
And so you envision that the best of your ability, maybe that feels like a really big leap for you. And you've got a couple more years to put in in some kind of position before you're able to get let's say you're putting money away for a pension or retirement or you know, some some businesses if you've been in a job long term, they've got these plans that if you work X amount of years, you know you eventually get this and so let's say you have reasons for staying and you're like I am probably not going to be leaving this position in six months. Maybe you open your soften up to the possibility that within six months time, that you are still in your position, that somehow you found a way to make a little bit more peace with it.
Maybe you see yourself moving through your position with a little bit more grace and peace. And then maybe you see yourself having this like juicy journaling time in the evening or on the weekends, where you are really thinking about what am I going to do? When I do get to leave this position? What kinds of things might I like to explore, I'm going to start gathering information now.
And I'm going to build a vision board about how my life life might look like five years from now. There's always a way to work with where we're at. But I really love keeping it realistic, and just opening ourselves up to how could things be slightly better? You know, how could things be a little bit more easeful? How could things what growth am I searching for right now. And just envisioning that, and if you're not good with visualization, write it down, like make a bullet list of these are my intentions like, this is the growth that I want to see.
And remember that whenever we envision it, we put that out there. And then we also say, Now, what is a step that I could take towards doing that we need both we need the vision, we need the foundation, and we need the practical steps. What are obstacles to aligned life building, the biggest obstacle that the records mentioned, and that I often see with people is just getting in the way of ourselves, we often have so many expectations about how we think things should look. And a lot of times, we are the ones who get in the way of ourselves and get in the way of realizing that our life actually might be more aligned than what we think it is.
So let's go back to my example of having to downsize offices, I had expectation, I really thought how it would look is I am going to have this pretty woman moment. If you've seen pretty woman who has not had this fantasy, you know, this is one of my favorite fantasies, if I feel like somebody has doubted me or not treated me well. You know, she gets kicked out of the shop because she's dressed in her clothes, she's a prostitute. And she's dressed in her street clothes, and they kick her out of the shop, you know, and they tell her basically, like, you can't come in here, because she looks like she's trashy to them. And she gets to go shopping with you know, credit cards and money. And she's like, really dressed up within a couple of weeks.
And now she looks totally different. And she comes in that shop and all of a sudden, they're very interested in her and you know, basically say, Oh, my goodness, can I help you? And she has this moment where she's like, remember me, you wouldn't help me a couple of weeks back, big mistake, huge. And she's got all these shopping bags.
And of course, at this point, she looks really rich, you know, and it's kind of that moment, that is I will show people, you know, I will show them that I am somebody and I have that back in that time in my life, where I just wanted to show people I will be successful everybody who doubted me. And she had a judgment towards the choices I made around my divorce like I will show them. And then I had to downsize offices.
And I was like, I'm not showing anybody anything. I'm downgrading my life. Oh, the drama. Can you hear where I was getting in the way of myself? And can you hear were my own expectations of what my life should look like, of what success look like, of what living aligned look like? Can you hear were those actually were becoming an obstacle in my path. And they were these like mental projections of how I hoped it would be when the reality was, was that it wasn't quite like that. And I was dealing with this kind of realistic thing that they just raised this rent a phenomenal amount. And it wasn't a good decision to stay in that old office.
[49:11] Overcoming the Obstacle of Getting in The Way of Ourselves
So oftentimes the obstacle is us. It's our stories that we're telling ourselves about something. It is our expectation around something. It is our mental resistance to something because we're really attached that it had to look a certain way, like our attachment to the story. Our attachment to our expectation is part of what creates so much emotional conflict and emotional suffering for us. And shifting that is as easy and as hard if saying you have to let the story go.
And you have to create a new story. And that is a hard thing to shift. It's hard biologically when our mind is really locked into an old story and is locked into a belief system or an xpect kishin again, when I use the word neural networks earlier, and I talked about building constructs and building roadmaps, we can create new maps and new ways of being.
But sometimes the brain and the mind will resist that because it's looked at it a certain way for a really long time. That's where mindfulness comes in and compassionate detachment, and working on observing your thoughts and knowing that you're not your thoughts are not your mental chatter, separating yourself out and being able to say, well, those were I mental constructs of how it would look, it's not really the reality of what's happened.
So can I create a new construct that serves me better, like that's where those practices really come in handy, because it allows us to put space between ourselves and between those expectations. And that can bring in so much freedom. And it's a beautiful way to overcome an obstacle and the obstacle is ourself, sometimes the obstacle to is that reality just isn't lining up. We have talked a lot on the podcast about the idea that there are bigger cycles happening, there are cosmic cycles, there are astrological cycles, their Earth cycles, there are collective cycles happening in humanity.
And so sometimes we've done a fantastic job at lining ourselves up, we're about ready to launch something, we've done all the foundational work, we have built a great basis for cathedral. And we've done the envisioning work, we have stepped into a higher possibility, we have created a pathway to move that forward. And then reality doesn't line up because something is happening in a bigger cycle. And the timing isn't there. I've talked before about I was trying to launch my speaking in a bigger way. And 2020, I had a big speaking event in February of 2020. And I was ready to launch. That date is a month before quarantine started with the pandemic.
So you can see where the timing was not there to launch my career as a speaker who went and did in person event weekends. And connected with audiences that way, it was the worst timing in the world. And yes, I spent a lot of time getting in the way of myself over the, you know, a couple of years after that of really like having these expectations. But I was going to do it this way. And this is how it should have looked. And I really had to divest my attachment to that old story, and be like, Okay, this isn't how reality shaped up.
And the possibility exists back then that you didn't do a damn thing wrong girl, that your foundations great, your vision was great, you're not being punished by spirit, nothing's happening here other than you're part of a bigger cycle, and the timing simply wasn't there. You can't grow a rose garden in the winter time. It's just the soils not fertile for it. So there is a piece where sometimes no matter what you're doing reality and what's happening in like the earth cycle and in the material realm is not going to match up with that. And I think we need a sense of humor, I think we need a lot of grace, I think we need a lot of forgiveness for those times when that happens.
[52:23] See Yourself As Being What You Desire to Become
So here's the big takeaways today that I really want to bring home as our talking points. And that is relax around this idea of building and aligned life a little bit more. Sometimes, I've had people come to me for spiritual coaching, I used to do a lot of intuition, development, and intuition, mentorship, it's really fun to work with individuals on that. And a lot of times I would hear something along the lines of like, I feel like I'm intuitive, but I don't feel like I'm using my intuition the way I'd like to I'd really like to develop my intuitive abilities.
You know, sometimes somebody will say, I really want to do what so and so does, like I want to read the Akashic records, or I want to be able to read tarot cards are somebody I want to have psychic visions and bring through messages. I want to do these things, or I want to feel more just within my inner knowing. And a lot of times my guidance is start to see yourself as already intuitive. Start to give yourself permission to recognize that you can create the pathways to those things, some people are going to be a little bit more naturally gifted at it.
So sometimes it might not be for somebody to like become a medium or something like that. So there are some things here where we might be a bit more gifted in one area than the other. But you know, any of that is learnable to some extent, or at least we can tap into it and so start to see yourself as inch Do it up. If you think it's so cool the way that somebody is an animal communicator, and they understand the messages that animals are giving you, and you wish that you could pick up on those messages, start to see yourself as somebody who is in an intuitive relationship with nature, start to say hello to animals that you see in your heart, start to speak to the trees, when you walk past them, start to align with this idea that you are intuiting nature, and that that information might be coming through in a way that's more subtle, because you're still learning how to hear its voice.
But start with seeing yourself as who you want to be. Don't think that it's out there. And if you do all this stuff, maybe you'll get there someday, and that it's really far away from you. Start to see yourself as that right now. Start to see yourself as the energies that you want to align with. And I've often found that if we can relax around it, and give ourselves permission to be like, I'm abundant right now, my life is aligned right now, you know what, maybe your life is a mess right now.
But you're really trying to do the best that you know how, and you're trying to sort it out. And so you are in alignment with wanting to be in your authenticity, start where you're at, we start where we're at, and when we can give ourselves grace.
And we can lose this idea that it has to be perfect. And we can work on building harmony with the things in us that might feel in conflict or divided, and coming into acceptance and peace with those often that will inform if we need to take an external step and change something so that we are living more aligned. And what I have found is that when we keep our heart open, and we are open to course corrections and open to recalibration and open to saying, I am a nature intuitive. It's it's subtle gift. But I am working on seeing myself as a nature intuitive. Maybe you start to align with that. And that leads you to take a course on animal communication or pick up a book. And in that book, you realize that there's something you haven't been doing that this person who's really an expert at it recommends. And so you just stay open and say, Oh, I didn't realize like that, I needed to do that. And you just take that in and integrate it and you recalibrate and you do a little bit of a course correction.
And so you start to see yourself in a more aligned and integrated way, as long as we're open like you will find the path, it can't miss you. It cannot miss you if you are trying to stay connected to spirit, live from your heart. And you're saying I really do want to be my most authentic self, then relax a little bit and trust that just as much as you're carving out the path, the path is also unfolding before you and it is helping you follow it. And you are doing this really creative, juicy, beautiful dance between taking the steps you know to take, but also allowing it to unfold as you go.
And if we just keep asking ourself the question, just this still feel true for me. Do I feel like my most authentic expression of self when I do this? And how about now do I still feel authentic? And if we start to say no, I don't this no longer feels right for me. And we just stay kind and open and curious to that. And see, well, what might be a more authentic way the path shows itself to us. And we can trust that.
[58:39] Coming Up Next Week
All right, that brings us to the conclusion of episode 22 building and aligned life, we are going to be talking about oh, this is such a fun topic next week. Bringing our Akashic records into the every day. I don't know what that means. What I often do for upcoming episodes is I will open myself up and I will literally just kind of say inspiring me with the title for next week. Sometimes I have a concrete reason for why I speak about something. But every now and then I have no idea. And I will just have this idea kind of plant itself in my mind a little bit like it's been sitting in my energetic inbox, and I just haven't opened it yet like an email. And so today like I opened it up like what's next week about and that's the title I heard, bringing your Akashic records into the every day.
So I think we're going to be talking about not only the Akashic records and answering more questions on the records, but talking about like, how can you work with your records on a day to day basis even if you're not an Akashic Records reading, even if you don't, haven't like formally learned how to channel them and some of this is still new to you. How can you activate the energy of the Akashic in your life? And how can you think about building Good Energy and possibility and potential into your records. And writing your records helping write the future then as you go, so we'll look at that and more. I don't know exactly what this episode will be yet so I get to discover it along with everybody else. All right, that wraps everything up for today.
Have an absolutely amazing week. Take good care of yourselves and your hearts. And until next time, be well be love, be you and be magic.
