[0:33] Introduction to the Episode
Aloha, everybody. Welcome to Your Heart Magic. This is Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright. And today we are continuing our archetypes of the Tarot series, and we are talking about the magician.
Ah, I love the magician, whenever I am doing a tarot reading for myself or for somebody else. If the card the magician comes up, there's just something about it that feels lucky. It feels inspirational. The magician is very much what it sounds like. It is about making magic. It's about making things happen.
And to get us and the mood for the magician, I thought I would read a very, very short poem today. It is from Heliotrope Nights, a book I wrote back in 2017. And it's from the fire and light chapter.
[1:30] A Poem and Reflection on Becoming An Agent of Change
And it simply says, You are your best resource and your own agency of change. If you want something different in your life, make it happen.
When I first read this poem, I guess I shouldn't say these words. It's such a short sentiment. I was in Oregon, and it was May of 2016. And it was about four and a half months after I'd lost my brother Brent. And I was really hungry for change in my life at the time. And we've been talking about moving to Hawaii, I didn't quite know it. But in about like three or four weeks time, we were going to make it happen. And I just declare like we're doing this. And we're doing it in a year's time and set everything into motion.
But at that time I was on this trip. And I was in the steep recovery from my grief. And I remember really vividly that the beautiful flowers and the colors of Oregon in May, compared to how Alaska looked when I left it, it was a really last winter that year, it was really brown. Even though the land was slowly waking up, it was not anywhere close to spring would be left the state in early May.
So I really received the colors as medicine into my heart I received the sunshine as medicine. And I remember sitting outside at this little patio table and I was just so hungry for change. And I was ready to begin writing more and doing something with my books. I believe I had begun to work on my poetry for my first manuscript Freebird Fridays at that point that I was compiling that. And I had found this kind of action oriented aspect of myself that had taken the alchemy of grief.
And grief really allowed me to examine the aspects of my life that no longer felt like they fit. Grief can be very clarifying. Sometimes in the midst of sorrow, part of what happens is we can see things more clearly. Because grief is a potential invitation to help us evaluate what's really most important to us.
And it holds this mirror up to look at our own reflection and look at the reflection of our life. And and that mirror. Part of what I was seeing is that I didn't love everything that was reflected back. Some of that reflection felt like experiences that were so familiar to be that I wasn't growing, and I was just so itching to do something different.
And so during that time period, part of what I had begun to find was these ingredients of self that gave the courage and bravery and said, I want to do something different with my life and I would like to be a bigger expression of BethAnne I currently am. As I am right now, and the life I've created for myself, and this is normal.
As we move through our lifespan we will be drawing to growth and self discovery and change in different forms, and that will be very much in accordance to who we are, what our life path is, what our circumstances are, it's not like there's one right way to make magic in our lives, or to go about the work of change, or to make something happen for ourselves, that is going to look so different based on who we are. But at that time, I was coming to a reckoning of self and many areas of my life.
[5:34] Tapping Into My Inner Magician
So I had begun writing, I was really ready to do more with my words and start writing books, even though it was a little bit terrifying. I was just ready to take it from blog form to book form. And I knew that I wanted to move to Kauai I was still just waiting for something, something to shift inside of me.
And I didn't quite know that what I was waiting for was really just my own decision to say we are making this happen. I think I was waiting for the universe to give me a blueprint and say, Yes, this is the right decision for you. And here is exactly what you need to know. And here are all the steps that you need to take to make this as easy as possible on you, and everything's gonna work out. So just start with step one. I did not realize at the time that the universe was like chilling, and just kind of hanging out and waiting for me to be like, no, no, we're doing this.
And I am going to take my will and my intention and the desired side of me. And I will take the first step towards this dream towards this reality. And when I decided that is when the universe rose up, spirit rose up and was like, Awesome, we have been waiting for you to declare this. And now we are going to start helping you make the path.
So when I wrote that poem, I was just in this space of hunger for change. And I kind of knew what I wanted it to look like, but not entirely. And I was really tapping into the magician aspect, the magician archetype of myself, and we all have that aspect of ourselves inside of us.
Remember, archetypes are really these collections of personality types, collections of different ways of being of the world, that help us categorize some form of an experience that is common to all of us. And so when we talk about the Tarot deck, and we talk about the journey through the Tarot and what each of the archetypes means, they apply to us specifically.
So even if we might not necessarily see ourselves as a magician, maybe we don't see ourselves as some of the aspects that come up. They are part of the collective experience of humanity. And as a human being, regardless of what our personality is, we might be inclined to some aspects over others, but we have access to every single archetype. And at that point in my life, I was learning how to be the magician.
[8:31] Understanding The Magician Archetype
So when we think about the magician archetype, I wrote down a few key words that come to mind that I think really a body the spirit of the magician, personal transformation, inspiration, innovation. Manifestation. Alchemy.
The magician is really a seeker of the mysteries of the universe, not just for the sake of understanding the mysteries, but because the magician archetype wants to know, it wants to understand how something works, how scientific principles work, or spiritual principles work, how the hidden realms work, so that it can work with that knowledge and take it and transform it in some shape or form to create something and material reality.
So the magician is very much about taking what is celestial and energetic, and making it terrestrial and into like bringing it into form. And I remember around that time, something that really inspired me, I read an article somewhere I can't tell you where I can't tell you who wrote it. So I apologize because I cannot source where this idea came from. But in this article, the person was talking about a mindfulness practice or a meditation practice that they've learned.
And it was very simple. It was about tipping your hands upwards, palms up, as if you are receiving and looking at your hands and see your hands as these two instruments that represent your capability of grabbing onto things and creating things. And using your hands to craft a life that you desire to craft a life that aligns with who you are.
And at the time I read this, or this meditation, it really stuck with me because I was feeling very overwhelmed in my life, I felt a little bit powerless. Like I was very stressed out, I was very busy, I remember feeling kind of stuck on this treadmill of always doing all these things. And a lot of times, I would feel like there were all these beads coming at me, and that I was responding to them. But I had forgotten that I had the capacity to take my stress, to take what I was feeling and transform it to a more empowered way of being.
So I remember reading this meditation, and every day for a while, I would flip my palms and be like, Okay, these are your instruments of capability today. And life might be a little bit stressful right now. But what do you want to create in your day? Like, how do you want to receive from life? What action do you want to use to help shape your life in a way that feels more in alignment, so you feel more empowered, and less disempowered and kind of caught up in a victim of circumstances, and more like you are using your capacity to help shape life right now.
And I love this simple meditation to just flip your hands and see your palms, your hands as this instrument that can not only shape the reality around you, and shape your world, but also receive. And when we open our hands and open up our palms, we are mindfully receiving from spirit and mindfully receiving from life.
The magician is taking our capable hands, recognizing that we have a sense of power that comes from inside of us that comes from our will and our attention, our ideas and the creative inspiration that flows through us and enacting our ideas and bringing the bit to form, taking our hands and being the shaper and shaping reality around us.
Traditionally, and many of the cards you'll see and the Tarot deck with the magician, the magician is working with his hands. And it's usually represented by a masculine a he in the decks, a lot of times and divine masculine energy, which we all have, regardless of how we might understand our gender. We all have divine masculine energy and divine feminine energy and masculine energy can be this very Yag energy that is about movement and action and inspiration and and taking our initiative and somehow enacting that and the world.
So often, the magician is a male and he's at his workbench and he's like mixing potions or doing something to create magic. Somehow, magicians and famous movies and books are often like Gandalf or Dumbledore, or wizards that represent some form of magic. And oftentimes in fantasy, you know, of course, they could work real magic. I think would we are talking about our current reality.
Most of us the magic that we work is less to do with mixing potions, and having like superpowers where we're able to do something but like, Wouldn't that be awesome? I feel like so many of us are like yes, please, if there's a superpower available out there that I can do something really cool like that. I will take it.
But for many of us, what we are really talking about is using our talents that we have our will or intention, our spiritual connection using those gifts and that is kind of the ingredients the alchemy, the potion that we work with, to mix it up and create Ah, some form of transformation.
[15:02] The Power of Self-Belief
So I love the magician, it's such a positive card. And I just want to share a few perspectives on how we can be the magician and our own lives, how we can be our agent of change, and recognize the capability that we have.
So the first one is, I think as magicians, one of the most important things we have is the power of self belief. If we don't believe in our capacity to make magic to make a difference, to shape our reality in a way that supports who we are, if we don't believe in that, if we don't believe in our dreams, if we don't believe in our gifts or abilities, it's very hard to make magic in this world, and to work with energies of manifestation and transformation.
When we don't have a sense of self efficacy and self belief, we tend to feel disempowered, we tend to feel like we are stuck and our circumstances we might feel like we are a victim of our circumstances. And I want to say this gently. Because there are times where we are in extremely difficult circumstances, or maybe we've been through a lot of trauma are some form of an illness, some form of grief, something that has really robbed us of our ability to feel any kind of sense of personal power.
And I just want to acknowledge that there are times that that happens the life and it happens, the journey. And it does not mean that you don't have the magician inside of you, it might mean that there are other aspects of being that you might find more helpful.
At this point in time, if you are feeling really crushed by life, you might use your magician to create opportunities for healing for yourself, you might have to rethink how this magician energy works for you. I gave the example of manifesting big changes in my life back in 2016, that resulted in writing books and moving to Hawaii, that's like big manifestation energy.
Sometimes we're not called to make something that big. Sometimes we are called to manifest, like I said, healing opportunities, or manifest self compassion, and inspiration that comes from a source other than ourselves, because we feel like our wealth has dried up. So if you find yourself in a space, where you do not feel particularly capable. And there's a reason behind that, you've had some big stuff happen in life, then I invite you to take this archetype today and make it your own and make it apply for your life at this time.
But, in general, going back to what I was saying, in self, about self belief, sometimes we don't have self belief, because it's just a self worth issue. Or there might be some weeds in the way where we feel like well, I don't believe in myself, or I don't believe I'm worthy of a beautiful life, or all that stuff is for somebody else, but it's not for me.
[18:44] Weeding Out Self-Doubt
So we want to look at any sources that we might have of self doubt, and fears. And anything that tells us that we can't, and really work at kind of rooting out any weeds that might be in the underpinnings of what we are trying to build our magic upon.
Because I think that the power, self belief and the power of continuing to show up for ourselves, just say, I believe and what I am called to create, or I believe that I'm worthy of a beautiful life. I believe that I'm worthy of healing. I believe that good things are meant for me. I believe that abundance and joy are a bit for me. I believe that my spiritual connection and by intuition, and by personal heart magic, are all gifts and resources that I have and the world needs them.
That sense of self capability is really, I think the embodiment of the magician. The magician doesn't stop to ask for permission. If the magician wants to write a book The magician doesn't stop and say has this been written before? Who's going to publish it for me? Will people actually buy this? Do I have anything to say, the magician does not dive into the waters of self doubt, and allow those waters to be their resting place where they shut the project down and never bothered to do it.
The magician just does it, and just has this optimistic belief that they are worthy of creating whatever it is they're trying to create. And I think that spirit, and that attitude is so beautiful for us to be able to tap into so many of us struggle with issues related to self doubt, and who am I to create this, or we live in a world right now of such extraordinary information flow.
And it seems like there is so much out there that people are doing and say it can be very overwhelming. And if you are feeling called to create something, and add your voice to the mix, somehow, a lot of times we undermine ourselves and don't even get going because we feel like somebody's already doing it or it's been done. I see this a lot with creatives who are looking to take whatever their hobby might be, and do something bigger with it, which you certainly don't have to just a little side note, there's something so beautiful about creating for the sake of pleasure, and joy.
So we're never obligated to produce or to somehow make it bigger. This is more about connecting with your personal vision. And if you would like to do something with it, or you'd like to start something, to do something for fun. And you think well, what if I'm not any good at it, there's so many times that we shoot ourselves, shoot ourselves down.
And we just don't even get going because we feel like somebody else has done it better. Our voice doesn't matter, or some other form of self-sabotage. And I think finding that optimistic place where we remember like, well, what if I just did it? What if I just signed up to, you know, run my first 5k? What if I just decided to take up photography, and I didn't care if I was amazing at it. I did it because I feel like I want to learn how to do that.
What if I started that blog or put in a new way or created that course whatever it is, what if I just decided that seeing myself as somebody who's worthy of abundance and happiness is my new mantra. And every day, I'm going to wake up and say I am creating a happy and abundant life and I stopped looking at other people's life that I thought might be happier or more abundant.
And I started believing that line was the magician has this very can do attitude. And it's really underscored by this optimistic, inspired belief not only and their capability, but their deservingness to bring that capability into form somehow and create whatever it is that they feel called to create.
[23:32] Believing In Our Gifts and Talents
Which brings me so beautifully to our next point. And that is that the magician does not underestimate or minimize their gifts, and talents. If you've ever seen a little kid do something for the first time and be really excited about it before this little kid gets a little bit older and realizes that our world is maybe based on rankings or rating systems and not everybody gets A's or first place or runs really well. Or creates really well.
But you know, this little kid just like let's say they love running, and they're not fast. And but they love it. They love it so much. And they maybe say to a parent mom or dad, you know, aunt, uncle, whoever it is babysitter, like look at me Look at me, and they like run across, you know, one side to the other field. Or maybe they swing on the monkey bars. Like it's the first time anybody's ever conquered the monkey bars.
And there's this excitement about it. And this is joy. And it doesn't matter that at some point. Maybe they'll go to gym class and realize that they're less athletically inclined than others. And so maybe they decide that those things aren't for them because they're not athletic. And the moment they're just excited because they did it And they learned something new. And they took this skill and somehow brought it out into form.
They want to show it off. And you say, oh my gosh, that's so amazing, you know, or when they do school plays or musicals or whatever, a lot of times the kid will be like, did you see me? Did you see me up there. And I think there is something about that energy of believing that we have gifts and talents.
And instead of comparing it, and saying, Well, how good or strong is this gift or talent, we just know, we have gifts and talents. And we don't feel the need to hide them or have this like false sense of humility, because we don't want to be arrogant. We just believe that we have gifts and talents that deserve to come out in the world.
And we know that believing in our gifts and talents doesn't mean they're better than or worse than the people around us. We don't have to compare, we can just believe that we have a gift or talent for something. And I think that one of the things that is beautiful to do is to expand our idea of what gifts and talents are, because gifts and talents are not just abilities, and the ability to like do something really well.
A lot of times when we think of gifts and talents, we might think of like, Oh, they're really good at this, you know, and that could be cooking or writing a sport, some form of a subject matter in school, a lot of times we assigned it to somebody.
But what if somebody is an extraordinarily gifted listener? What if they are gifted with emotional intelligence, and the ability to understand the people around them and the world around them? What if they are like, what if they have a talent for just loving, and continuing to show up and say, You know what, everybody else has given up on this situation, but I am going to continue to pour love into it.
And I'm going to hold out hope, a gift and a talent does not necessarily have to translate to something that you do that is often how we think about them. gifts and talents can also be ways of being that we the qualities of self that we bring into the world. And we anchor that energy and bring that quality to our relationships or to whatever it is that we do in our lives. A gift or quality could be like they have a gift she Monetate and to create peace inside of them, and send beautiful peaceful prayers out to the world. What a gift.
So I think the magician not only doesn't like minimize their gifts and talents, they are generous with being like I am gifted and I am talented, I can do this. And I can do this. And I can do this and this and this and this. And they are comprehensive with seeing gifts and talents in a very multi dimensional way. And I really think that when we can do that, it actually helps with the work of rooting out self doubt.
When we look at having underpinnings of not believing in ourselves that perhaps sabotage our self belief. If we give ourselves credit for the gifts and talents that we have, that's a really beautiful way to counter that self sabotage. And to focus on the things that we are doing well, sometimes when we talk about doing inner work, and how do we root out self doubt, how do we heal broken parts of ourselves, there can be such an emphasis on figuring out like, what's wrong with us.
And there's a time and a place to do that work. If we can find core beliefs that aren't supportive of us. That's definitely there's good work that can be done there. But sometimes maybe self work is as simple as focusing on what we're already basic at, and focusing on really positive attributes inside of ourselves, focusing on a strengths based approach to our lives, so that we're not looking at our deficits, but we're focusing on the strengths that we already do well, and we are building those muscles and we are exercising that voice of self.
So if we notice self doubt coming out we can say no, remember that child that list I made? It is on my talent list that I have a voice of compassion that deserves to share its words with other people.
So I am not listening to that self doubt stuff. I am working on building my muscle All believing in my talent, and seeing that I have this talent that the world deserves to know that people around me deserve to receive that talent. If I feel called to give it.
[30:14] The Dance of Will, Intention & Receptivity
Something else that I feel the magician needs is understanding the dance of will, intention and receptivity. I think that there is this aspect to the magician where and that archetype they talk about the magician sort of seeks hidden knowledge, like, how does the universe work? Like if we're talking about manifestation? The magician wants to know, like, how does manifestation really work?
Because if I understand how it really works, I can use those principles to try and manifest what I want in my life. And when the magician is seeking to understand how something works, one of the fundamentals of understanding creation and manifestation inspiration is knowing that there are various focal points that help us create and be inspired and help us be the magician.
And so I'm thinking of a triangle right now are like three legs of a stool that all kind of balance each other out. And one of those legs is our will. And our drive. It is the motivation and the desire, where we say like not only do I believe in myself, but like, I am driven, I want to do this thing.
Sometimes I guess the dark side of that might be ambition for the sake of ambition, that is so kind of overpowering of somebody's heart, that it is like really out of balance, and that they like aspire, simply because they wish to conquer or wish to amass or something like that. But when we are talking about this is your heart magic.
So we're not focusing on that way of being on this show, we are focusing on will and drive and motivation and heart based ambition. Heart inspired willpower, where we say like and my heart, I believe I am worthy of a beautiful life or creating the stream and I have the will or the drive inside of me. If we are struggling with that within ourselves.
That's a beautiful gateway to do some journaling and figure out why am I not motivated right now, earlier I said that if somebody who is listening to this has been through a lot of trauma, or been through a really heavy season of life, they might not have a strong sense of drive to create, or to take like big action steps at this point in time.
Maybe you have the desire to heal, the desire to receive the desire to say I actually really need more of a yen phase where I'm just receiving, and I'm allowing myself to rest awesome, we can be intentional about creating opportunity for rest inside of ourselves. So we want to work with wherever we're at, and shape our will and our drive to suit the season that we're in and our life cycle.
There's nothing wrong with that. The other leg of our three legged stool, the little Trifecta here is intention. It's intention and belief. And that is really what allows us to know how to take an action step, or know how to direct our will and our drive like in the right direction.
Intention is saying I want to create the stream. And my intention right now is to take this next step, or here's how I'd like to do it. Intention takes all of these beautiful inspired ideas that we have, and it brings it into focus to help us give our magician energy a place to land if we don't have intention, we began to feel directionless. And so we don't know how to direct our drive or our will. And we have like all this heart based ambition and all this inspired ideas and we never like move it we just kind of stay in IDEA land and don't do anything about it.
So when we create an intention, it is kind of like I'm seeing a big map in my mind right now. And what if somebody told you you can go anywhere on this map that you want? Here's a free ticket and like reservations will be made and travel will be booked and Don't you just have to say you just have to choose. Some people might be like, Oh my gosh, yes, please. And I've always wanted to go to Paris, France, or I've always wanted to go do this.
But for many people, they might feel really overwhelmed and be like, wait anywhere, I can do anything. And then get into like, Well, what do I want the most I better maximize this opportunity. Like, what if I choose wrong, and I waste this chance, and, and and you hear how lost we can get and overthinking sometimes.
And while it is important to evaluate, and assess, and take time to make sure that we're making the best decision that we know how, in a moment, sometimes we just have to like set an intention and say this is kind of the best I know to do. I had three good choices, I narrowed it down on I couldn't choose I drew one out of a hat in this is where I'm going, you know, I'm off to Portugal, we give it a focal point so that the universe can begin to line things up.
Earlier, I talked about when I wrote that poem that I was in this mental and emotional state of wanting change in my life. But I hadn't quite decided how to ground it in an action step. And I was waiting for permission. So I had like the desire the will to make life changes. And at the time, part of that was like, I'd like to move to Hawaii, I was in Alaska, I was ready to really have a huge shift. But I was waiting, again waiting for permission waiting for the universe to give me the intention.
So I could take the first step. And really what happened is, I declared the first step, you know, it was sort of a weed decision of having a conversation with my husband and be like, I think we should go like sooner rather than later. You know, I think this is what we should do this and making that decision. That was the intention like we're moving to Kauai and the summer of 2017.
And once we set that intention that allowed us to start to mention it to the people closest to us, I had to start thinking about how do I tell clients that I'm working with and when do I have these conversations, that was the intention that began to drive this whole change. When I decided to write a book, I felt very overwhelmed by the process.
And when I was putting together the manuscript for Freebird Fridays, the intention was I'm going to write a poetry book. And I'm going to collect poems that I've already written. And I am going to, you know, I kind of wrote this vision out for this book, I set an intention. So our intention gives us a focal point. And it allows us to take that action step.
[37:55] Understanding Conscious Receptivity
And then our third part of the triangle, our third leg on the stool is conscious receptivity. And conscious receptivity is the intelligence to understand we can't do it all on our own. This is where our spiritual connection comes in. And this is where we invite spirit to meet us where our motivation is, and our intention art and say, like, I consciously receive what I need to keep creating my next step.
This is where we attract into us or allow into our path, whatever opportunity might help us continue to shape whatever we're trying to create. So sometimes we decide we really want to do something, and we hammer away at it. And we are really working on efforting, we're using our willpower, we are setting our intentions, and we are seeing no movement at all.
Or every time we try to do what we get ported and something gets in the way. And I think this is where the art of consciously receiving and intelligently See, like what life is presenting to us, and what is spirit bringing into our path. And learning how to work with that and learning how to dance with the greater stream of life.
That is really what makes the magician it's not just about like, our will all the time. And we are masters of the universe and we're going to create. We are masters of our little personal universe, if you want to call it that.
But we have to remember that having like self mastery in our little universe is actually about allowing room for spirit to meet us there. And having the intelligence at the heart, inform us and remind us that we don't do it all in our own power. That our power comes from our hearts. It comes from our spiritual connection. It comes from our higher self. It comes From this eternal well inside of us, that understands I am a soul on a human journey.
And as a soul on a human journey, it's my right to be on my spiritual connection and work with that connection to pray and ask for support, and ask for the way to be shown to me.
So we can't just drive all the time, we have to learn how to receive. And receptivity is often thought of as a little bit more feminine energy and energy. But I think what is conscious receptivity, and we are using our hearts and our willpower to consciously receive and to make that an action step, here's the action step I'm going to take and then I'm going to see what shows up.
That can be an action step. I think that's a really important aspect of not just being the magician, but we'll say being heart based ambitious magicians.
[41:02] Staying Open to Life's Alchemy
All right, just a couple more points that I want to share today. The next one that I wrote down was staying open to life's alchemy. And this is really where the real magic happens, like we were just talking about, there are times where we have a certain idea of what we want, how we want it done, how it's going to happen.
And sometimes it happens that way. That's an amazing feeling. The example I gave of moving to Hawaii, it kind of happened the way that we set out to have it happen. You know, I've talked about this on here before, but just a little quick recap. It was Memorial Day of 2016 that I was driving into work the Tuesday after Memorial Day, they had such a beautiful memorial day off. And I had been thinking about this move and thinking about making changes.
And I remember driving to work thinking like I don't want to do this anymore. I do not want to be this like same version of itself a year from now, driving to work. And not having done anything with all this energy inside of me. And that is really I remember kind of putting the date on the calendar and being like, let's go and like, you know, June of the summer of 2017.
And it happened almost like that. It wasn't quite my intention was is that we were in Hawaii by Memorial Day of 2017. We were in Hawaii, like right after Fourth of July of 2017. We moved over here about one year and one month later, it was close enough. Life presented the right timing for us. And the right timing needed just a little bit more in order to get over here. But you know, basically, the move happened very similar to the original vision of like this is when it's going to happen. And here's the timeline.
As far as manifestation goes, having it fall within about like four weeks of what I'd hoped for. Like that's pretty much a nailed it when it comes to manifesting something that big. Now what did not look at all I quickly thought it would is life on Kauai once we got here.
And I have a lot of stories over the last few years of a lot of like frustration where I felt like I was not making the magic happen. I was a very frustrated magician. I've definitely traveled the lands of feeling disempowered, and feeling like you know, best laid plans and then life came along.
And you know, COVID Such a big one. I've talked about how that just derailed what I was trying to build as a speaker. But there's been many, many things where I have now in frustration during my time on this island where I had a vision of how I wanted it to look and I was bringing that like great manifesting magician energy to it. And life was like, I don't think so. And it just did not happen at all how I thought it would.
And so I think staying open to life's alchemy and realizing that we want to be magicians who are fluid, and open to what life has in store for us. And there are times that we might be trying to create a vision and the timing might not be there. Or maybe the universe has a better way of doing it, or some other path that might be equally pleasing or even better, and in the end, you know, creates even more, something even more than what we had hoped for.
There's many, many reasons that we can't always get exactly what we want, how we envisioned having it and I think staying open to what life brings us and that conscious receptivity piece that I was Talking about is the difference between being a disempowered magician, versus an empowered magician who continues to believe, and your magic who continues to believe in your talents and gifts, who continues to believe in your vision.
And instead of deciding, well, none of it's happening the way that I hope so those things must not be true. That magician knows that I still believe in all those things.
But if it's not happening, the way that I'm trying to make it happen, life must have something bigger for me, spirit must see something that I don't see. And I am being protected. Right now, maybe I'm being guided, maybe things are being put on hold, because the timing is going to be even better later on.
There's many, many reasons that we might be on a different timetable than spirit. Maybe cuz I was like, I'm laughing, you can't see my face. But I'm like, maybe because Spirit kind of knows everything. And we don't. And so that timetable tends to be better. So if you're frustrated magician, take heart. And remember that we want to stay open to how life is unfolding. We want to work with what's being brought our way.
And a good magician knows that even if we have to scrap the vision and say, Well, I tried to do all this stuff. And none of that worked. But here is what showing up for me, we can always work with the ingredients that life is giving us. And we can always create new intentions, we can always find new motivation and will and drive for something else. We can always say, I have no idea right now what I'm supposed to be doing. But my theme of the month is self kindness.
And so I am going to use my magician energy to practice self kindness, and to like really explore that as an aspect of self and to really strengthen my voice of self compassion and self kindness. What a beautiful way to use your magician energy, there's always a choice, there's always a step, there's always something that we can do to not only make a positive contribution to the world around us, but to make a positive contribution to ourselves and to our own lives. And that really brings me to our last point, it all comes back to your heart magic.
And what I wrote down is like your heart is your greatest magic. That is the primary feel for your magician energy, we will have many hopes and dreams and goals and wishes that are beautiful, and they're joyful, some of them will be fun. Some of them will be about things that we want to do in the world, things you want to create.
Maybe they're things we want to do, because we've always wanted to cross something off a bucket list or travel somewhere, or try a new food, whatever would be on those lists for you have you know if you could make a bucket list for the rest of 2023 going into 2024? What would be on it. You know that stuff is where we can really use our magician energy to be like, how can I make that one happen on my list. And those things are very personal to us. They're meaningful, they matter to spirit because they matter to us.
[48:22] Your Heart is Your Greatest Magic
But at the end of the day, what is most important is really like listening to our hearts. And that other stuff is kind of the filler things that make life fun. They make life pleasurable, they make us feel like maybe we're taking steps that help us feel good and things that we're achieving things that we're doing things that we can share with others, but our heart and what is in our heart, and the love that's in our heart, and the compassion and our heart, our hearts ability to break and heal and care and give us information so we can take heart inspired action in this world that comes from our soulful space of love and our spiritual connection. That is our greatest source of magic.
So even if we're not crossing anything off at the bucket list, or it's a time in life, where we're not able to do quite so much. And we just have to work with wherever we're at. And we are not loving kind of the ingredients that we have to work with. We can ask our heart like, well, what magic can I create right now?
And like I said, the heart always has an assignment for us. It always says well cultivate some joy today. You know or just be in nature. And your magic right now is I want you to go outside every night and look at the moon and see what the moon is doing. You know, notice the mood phases and be in relationship with nature. I mean, the heart always gives us some form of a simple wisdom that allows us to connect to what is authentic, what is real, what is lasting, memories of other things fade good works, that we do fade.
But the experiences that we cultivate, and how those experiences shape us, the quality of who we are the integrity of who we are creating a life that is in coherence with our heart, a life that we feel good about. It's not just what we feel good about on paper, it's feeling good about who we are, that is our greatest magic.
And so we can always be working on our character always be working on something and us, that allows us to hold greater space for love to come into this world for light to shine through us for joy and compassion and opportunity for spiritual abundance to come towards us. We can always be working our heart magic, and bringing those things into being. Ah, well. I hope this inspired you to see yourself as the magician in your life.
And to think of the many, many ways you can bring this archetype energy into your world right now. From big inspired ideas that might be about massive external changes to enter shifts, that are you rocking your heart magic, and increasing the quality of your being and the quality of your life. There are so many ways to make this archetype apply to us.
So it doesn't matter who you are, or what you're working with in your life, like you are the magician, and you have the capability of making good things happen for yourself and consciously receiving them.
[51:54] Coming Up Next Week
Next week, we have a when I say fun topic, it's a challenging topic. It's when leaps of faith fall flat. And I want to explore a little bit more. What happens when we like, take a leap of faith, you know, and we are like I am doing the thing. And then we feel like we like fall on our face, or nothing catches us or it feels like a failure.
That too is part of our magic. It's part of our heart magic. It's part of the magician archetype. It's part of understanding how can we grow from that? How can we have perspective around that that helps support us. And help us helps us continue to believe in ourselves and believe and our intuition and spiritual connection.
So we are going to be looking at how can we find perspective on that? And what next? And how can we understand that in a way that we don't internalize that experience as shame based failure or poor self esteem. But instead, we're able to alchemize that experience and use it as future feel for staying on our path. And still believing in ourselves and believing in our heart magic.
So challenging topic and the sense that we're going to be dipping into when things don't go the way that we want them to. And that's always just more challenging to talk about. It's a little less juicy than talking about being the magician. But I think it's a great topic. I actually think it's a really fun topic to explore. Because I think that on the path for those who are really trying to touch their hearts and rock their spiritual connection, oftentimes, like we don't know what to do when that happens.
And so we can like really get stuck in our mental chatter, and we can really get stuck in our mind. And I think spiritually, there's some perspectives and tools that might help us get out of our mind and into our heart and use those opportunities for creative reinvention.
So that is coming up next week. In the meantime, have an amazing week. And until we next meet on your heart magic be well be love. Be you and me magic.
