[0:13] Embracing change and growth through spiritual wisdom.
Music, Aloha and welcome to Your Heart magic, an illuminating space where psychology, spirituality and heart wisdom. Meet. Here's your host, Dr bethanne kapansky Wright, the clinical psychologist with a mystic mind.
Aloha, everyone. Welcome to Your Heart magic. This is Dr bethanne kapansky Wright, and we are doing something slightly different for the month of August. Instead of the usual weekly programming we have, I am doing something called Small pearls, an August mini series.
And my intention behind this was to, one, just shake things up a little bit. I think it's good to break patterns and to do things a little bit differently.
Two, I wanted to honor my desire to still bring you a fresh podcast with new content and something to share, and at the same time, give myself a little bit of a break by making these episodes slightly shorter, since this is a very, very busy season for me, because my point three is I have a new book coming out in the fall called Small pearls big wisdom, 365 reflections on the heart of being human.
And so I thought it would be fun, in the spirit of all of those things, to create a mini series this August, simply called Small pearls, where I will be sharing a passage from my upcoming book and a little bit of a reflection around that passage.
And the book itself is 365 different reflections on life wisdom that range From authenticity to self compassion, to listening to our hearts, embracing challenge, grieving and loss and healing, basically all the stuff we talk about on the your heart magic podcast all the time, condensed down into 365, little one page wisdom reflections.
So I'm so excited to be at this point in the process and be able to share this news with you. I can't wait to be able to share a little bit more as we get closer to publication, and I have some concrete dates to give you.
[2:32] Change cycles and embracing transformation.
But for now, the small pearl that I want to share today is called Change cycles, and this felt appropriate, since I am changing things for this month and embracing and leaning into where my life is at and my life seasons and my life change, but I also felt for all of us, we have each individually, certainly been going through a lot of change in our own ways over the last few years.
And if You look around at what's going on in our world, it seems so common anymore to hear people say like, is all of this actually happening, and to have a difficult time orienting ourself to reality and some of the world events and things that we have been seeing and hearing about.
And so I think there is certainly something that has been happening on more of an energetic level, that we are seeing so much transformation and transition happen in the systems of humanity.
We are seeing a lot of invitation to heal some wounds in humanity, and we're seeing a lot of things breaking down and breaking apart in order to help examine what's there so they can be restructured or healed or seen through a clearer Lens of Truth, to move forward in a more authentic way. So we are in the midst of that right now as spiritual beings, having a human experience and on this human journey.
So it felt appropriate to start our August mini series with a passage on change. Change cycles. Whether or not we realize it, we are in a constant cycle of change. If we are here and have air to breathe, we will be forever changing and developing.
Sometimes change comes in giant waves and big flows. Sometimes it's an ebb and we feel like we're going backward and retrograding in our lives, when really things just appear to slow down so we can be ushered into greater alignment when they speed back up.
Change can be hard for us to embrace, but the sooner we can embrace change, the more we shift into a fluid paradigm of evolution and growth with lots of room for creativity, reinvention and rearrangement. We release more rigid ways of being and instead open to a more gracious relationship with our lives.
We stop. Imposing ridiculous expectations on ourselves about how life should look, wasting precious time, lamenting what isn't instead, we embrace how life does look, viewing whatever comes across our path as a potential teacher to help us grow so we can open our arms to the gifts of what is our minds like to resist change so it can be hard to take the mental leap from resistance to acceptance. This is why our heart and intuition processes become the tools we need to navigate change.
[5:35] Embracing change and trusting heart wisdom.
Sometimes the best and easiest thing we can do is give ourselves permission not to know. Have faith in the change process, be in the nebulous feelings of the moment. Then put our hand in our hearts, drop into that energy and ask, What do I need to know right now?
And then heed the wisdom that comes through as I was looking at that passage to share with everyone I was drawn to the line, sometimes change comes in giant waves and big flows, and then that's followed by, sometimes it's an ebb, and that water imagery of this idea that sometimes change is a tidal wave or something huge, and sometimes it's really gentle and It happens slowly, or it's almost like we're going backwards, and then all of a sudden we get it and have insight, and we jump forward.
But I was thinking of the metaphor of water, and how water, even though it often changes how it's flowing, like a river or the ocean, it can look so different from day to day, and yet it's the same body of water.
It's the same element that part doesn't change, and yet, how it presents itself, and what's going on with its inner workings and its currents and its sea life, and everything that's connected to water, all of that keeps changing, and it's responding as well to what's going on with the weather patterns and the moon and storm fronts and all the things that come together, I suppose, to sometimes make the ocean really stormy, and other times make it very gentle and calm.
And I think there's inspiration and wisdom there for us that even as we acknowledge the change that we're going through, and I love the idea of remembering that when we are going through change who we are, where we're at, at our core, this kind of core element of our unique essence, our magic, who we are in our hearts, something in that holds true, just like water.
And so we change our ebbs and our flows and how we are responding to what's going on in our environment, and yet, there's something in us that we can anchor into.
[7:47] Trust the process and lean into your heart in change.
And here, on your heart magic, I'm always bringing it back to the heart wisdom, what's in your heart, and using your heart's intelligence as the portal to your spiritual connection, to your intuition, to really listening to your inner voice and your inner self.
And so even as things change in our life, even when we feel really resistant to it, or we feel like I feel really freaked out by this, I don't know what's going to happen, and the uncertainty is so uncomfortable, and I just want to know, I think that we can't know what we don't know, right?
We can't know what is going to be on, avoid space, or how things might transform or evolve or metamorphosis. We can't know that for our world. We can't always know that for ourselves, for ourselves, we have a little bit more familiarity.
So sometimes we might take a guess based on where we've been, but we can always leave room to surprise ourselves. Sometimes our lives take shape and the most surprising ways, and sometimes we do as well.
And how we choose to express ourself, or how we feel called to show up, changes as well. But we can always come back to that heart space, and we can always just put our hand on our heart and say, What do I need to know for right now and listen to the wisdom that comes through.
And it could be something very simple. It could be, take a deep breath or go be in nature. It could be, trust the process, trust yourself. You have everything you need right now. Our heart wisdom, true wisdom, is always very simple.
We can distill it down to a very simple point, and so we listen for that, and we can have faith in the process and know that we have received what we need for that point in time. And that is what embracing change is all about, and learning to lean in and trust our heart to guide us through.
So with that, I will be back next week, and I will be sharing a another reflection of a small pearl from my upcoming book, and sharing some thoughts on that reflection and how that wisdom applies to our life.
And I will absolutely be sharing more about my upcoming. Coming book over the next few weeks. So thank you for celebrating with me. I am just delighted to be able to even, like speak these words on the podcast and say, Guess what's happening. Something great is and I have this going on. So stay tuned for all of that. In the meantime, happy August, everybody. Have an amazing week.
Be well, be love. Be you and be magic.
