Becoming the Builder: Crafting Your Vision in May's Energy
What are you building in your life right now? The energy of May offers powerful support for creating solid foundations and taking tangible steps toward your dreams. Drawing wisdom from the Akashic Records, Dr. Bethann reveals how this "build energy" provides the perfect conditions for manifesting through practical action.
Through vivid imagery and spiritual insight, this episode explores how we can evaluate what's working in our lives and what needs transformation. You'll discover why meaning-making becomes essential during times of collective chaos, helping us narrate our own stories and find purpose even in challenging experiences.
Key talking points include:
• The Akashic Records show "build energy" is present during Taurus season, supporting tangible manifestation
• Like Tetris blocks, we're figuring out what pieces fit in our lives and what needs rearrangement
• During collective chaos, grounding back to self helps us reclaim our center
• Meaning-making empowers us to narrate our own stories and find purpose in experiences
• Meditation strengthens our spiritual foundation during this building time
• This month favors small, achievable steps over vast, abstract visions
• Journal prompt: Where would you like to be at the end of May? What tangible steps will get you there?
• Balance the terrestrial (practical actions) with the celestial (expansive dreams)
Whether you're contemplating major life changes or seeking subtle shifts in your approach, this episode offers wisdom for dreaming bigger, breaking free from limitations, and becoming the rainmaker in your own life. Aloha and welcome to your Heart Magic, an illuminating space where psychology, spirituality and heart wisdom meet. Here's your host, dr Bethann Kapansky-Wright. Author, psychologist and spiritual educator.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :Aloha everybody, welcome to your Heart Magic. This is Dr Bethann Kapansky-Wright, and happy May to everybody. Today we are doing a mini Akashic update and we are looking at what the Akashic records have to say about the energy at this time. And then we're going to dive a little bit more deeply into that and look at how we can apply it to our lives. And I have a couple fun passages to read as well to help set the tone and round out today's podcast episode. So first of all, just to ground this episode, the Akashic Records said that right now there's really good build energy going on, and by build energy they mean the kinds of energy that supports grounded, tangible steps and really thinking about what we're building in our lives.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :Now, the Akashic Records often speak through resonance. They speak through images. Sometimes there is a sense of knowing. There are words that are often coming through when I'm seeing something in my mind. So, for example, when I was in the records and I was looking at what is the energy for the Taurus new moon, which happened this past weekend and the first couple of weeks of May, I saw the words build energy and I also saw all these fun images of builders. I saw the game Tetris and blocks going into different columns and some of them lining up, some of them not working, and we have to renegotiate it and figure out how to fit everything in. I saw these playful, almost like little Lego builders. It's not uncommon for the records to have a sense of humor and to use playful imagery when information is coming through. They're really fun that way and there's a lightness when I work with them, and so I think sometimes they will give a light picture that goes with the words to illustrate it. So I saw all these different pictures and images of things being built and the idea was right now that there's excellent energy for building things in our life, and of course, that is going to be very individual, based on who we are, what our goals are and what we are building. But right now there's good energy that's very grounded and it's very focused on thinking about what systems are we putting in place, what foundation are we building our lives upon, what's working, what's at the base of it and what's anchoring us and what's not working and how might we look at changing that.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :So, before we dive more deeply into the message, I have a poem that I want to share from my poetry book Heliotrope Nights Starlight for the Mind and Soul, and I chose this because it fits in with the theme of today's podcast episode, which is centered on encouraging us to think about not only what are we building, but how are we building towards our dreams at this time? So this poem is called Rainmakers, my dear one. I know it's hard to be in a world that has oft forgotten how to be, but you will never find your stars if you do not learn to open your eyes to the night, and you will never discover just how big you are if you insist on keeping yourself placed inside the lines drawn by others. You were made for greater things, great one, the kinds of things which unbind your strings to gravity so you can better shoot through the sky. Don't sacrifice your power to fit another's box or think for a second. You didn't come from love or ever believe you don't have a place in the grace of this world, for we are the makers making it rain. We are the wizards behind our own curtains. We are the dreamers dreaming out loud. We are the dreamers dreaming out loud.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :When I wrote this poem and published it back in 2016, 2017, I was at such a transitional stage in my life and I was really thinking about what am I building in my life? I don't know if that's the language that I would have used at the time, but that's exactly what I was contemplating and, as I've shared many times on the podcast, I was living in Alaska at the time. But that's exactly what I was contemplating and, as I've shared many times on the podcast, I was living in Alaska at the time, so I built a really lovely life for myself there. I built a really lovely container that was housing my life and holding my life there, and it had become way too small for many reasons. It was just time for growth and time for expansion, and many things were a catalyst for that. That led me to coming to Kauai and making significant changes in my life.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :But I don't think I decided to do that yet, and so I was just feeling this restlessness and feeling this stirring and really feeling like am I being who I'm called to be in this world, or am I just fitting into roles and fitting into boxes that were built for me by somebody else or others' expectations, or society's expectations, or maybe even my own ideas of who I was supposed to be and what I was supposed to be doing with my life and I was really challenging all of that and challenging my own status quo and looking at how do I dream bigger, how do I become the rainmaker and make it rain in my own life? How do I find inspired action and dare to step outside of the lines that were holding my life in at the time? And that felt big back then. It felt big when I was thinking about making these gigantic moves and packing up and moving to another state entirely and packing up that version of my practice and not knowing what the future had in store for me, and I was just on the precipice of being in the throes of dismantling so much of what I built and going through this massive change and evaluation process and then turning around and rebuilding something different and figuring out what pieces am I keepinging out? What pieces serve me then? And I've outgrown them? How can I integrate or reinvent something that was part of my old matrix and bring it into my new matrix of being? And when the Akashic Records talk about this idea of build energy and being builders, these are the kinds of questions that come to mind Now. This is a really dramatic example. You do not have to be going through some huge life change. If you are contemplating what am I building in my life right now, it's just an easy example to use because it illustrates this so well and so much of my poetry back then is centered around this idea of becoming bigger, dreaming a bigger world, freeing myself from limitations, freeing myself from my fears, and that's really the Akashic's invitation to us at this time. How do we keep building and dreaming something bigger than perhaps the old boxes or the old fears or old ideas of who we were and the Akashic Records talked about?
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :There's a lot of chaos going on at this time. I don't think that's a surprise. You can just look at the headlines and see exactly what's happening and how chaotic and how much upheaval is going on, and there is a collective questioning right now of identity and collective big questions being asked on a scope that far exceeds us as individuals and comes down to the bigger collective of humanity. But for us as individuals, of course, there's a trickle down effect and many of us are looking at who am I in the world right now? How am I called to serve? What is my purpose? How do I understand myself within this shifting landscape.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :So much of what we thought we knew to be true hasn't held true. So much has changed in the last five years, the last decade. So much is in flux right now, and so we feel that, and many of us feel emotionally ungrounded, and the guidance from the records is to think about how do we recenter ourselves, how do we ground back into ourselves? At this time, there is potential in the upheaval to look at what we are constructing and to bring it back to the space of self and to really work with the Akashic message for the year 2025, which is all about remapping peace inside of ourselves and doing things in a new way, understanding ourselves in a new way, integrating the old, letting what has come to pass pass and what's decayed letting it go, and figuring out how do I build forward and how do I build in the direction that I want to go out, how do I build forward and how do I build in the direction that I want to go. So right now, in Taurus season, there's excellent energy for doing that. It feels particularly potent during the first few weeks of May, and the Akashic Records had this really lovely guidance where they encouraged us to think about if something's not working for us, what will?
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :This is a great time to evaluate what isn't working. What are you letting go of? What are you transforming? What are you shedding? What are you releasing? What do you just keep running into the same wall over and over, or you keep falling in the same hole and you feel stuck, or you're stuck in a pattern. And what would work for you instead? If you wanted to think about how to do things differently, open up to the idea of new possibilities you don't have to actually take an action step yet just to be open to rethinking and reinventing something and contemplating and allowing for the ideas to come through that things could be different, and allowing for the ideas to come through that things could be different. And as you think about the possibility, then our next question is so how do I go about doing it differently? How would I create something or do something differently in a way that nourishes me? What would nourish me If I am stuck in something or something isn't serving me? And so I feel like I keep running into the same obstacle over and over. What might I create that would feel more sustainable? What would feel more nourishing? And the other question they gave us and I just love this question is how can I make meaning from this?
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :I feel meaning making is so important to cultivating a sense of purpose and finding a compass, something that helps us feel anchored into who we are. When we can make meaning out of things in our life, when we can ascribe meaning and think about what did this mean for me, what wisdom did I gain from it? How is this part of the bigger arc of my story that's unfolding, when we can claim our right to meaning make and to narrate our life and to empower ourself to use language, to use words to tell a story about who we are and how we're showing up and what's happened and what we want to take from that. When we can find language to tell that through that feels empowering and freeing and that helps us define ourselves for ourselves. It's a really powerful thing and it allows us to think about our intention for why we do what we do and who we are, and it allows us to continue to ground into our sense of purpose.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :To continue to ground into our sense of purpose, for example, one of the ways that I make meaning out of things is I feel that, as a soul, we are here to have experiences, and so no experience is ever wasted. Whether we like an experience or we don't like an experience, I can always bring myself back to space as saying well, that did not work out for me, but I gained a new experience and, on a soul level, that was collecting a new experience into my being. I have now experienced this and learned some things from it, and I can keep moving on on my journey. I also claim the right to make meaning out of what wisdom did I learn from something For me personally? When it comes to meaning making, I am at a point in my journey that I am somewhat interested in looking at why did this happen? Sometimes there is an answer to the why that I can find, or something that I can see, where I see my part in a pattern and maybe how I helped create a circumstance in my life, but I've also learned that sometimes life just happens.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :We are living on this creative planet that is evolving around us, and evolution is messy. It can be chaotic, sometimes discord or disruptions happen and we get caught in the crossfire, and so I prefer to focus on what meaning does this hold for me? How can I make meaning out of this. How do I want to take this experience and learn from it so I can move forward? What do I need to do to integrate this experience, maybe heal from this experience, take wisdom from this experience, brush my hands and say, well, that happened and I'm just going to keep on going. Those things are my choice and I get to play with those and play with the narrative around them, and so do you.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :You get to meaning make and you get to think about the language you use and the perspective that you use and the words that you use, our words and our thoughts. They are a tool and they, to some large extent, help shape our reality, but they certainly shape how we are responding and perceiving that reality and that piece right. There is something that I do have control over. I might not always be able to control what's happening in my life Oftentimes not so much at all. There's very little that I can actually control but I can work with my thoughts and I can let those be malleable.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :So we are encouraged to think about meaning making right now in this build energy and to even think about, like, how we make meaning of something. We are building a foundation of how we understand ourselves at this time. It's also really good energy right now to get into a meditation practice. The records noted that and said that having a grounded meditation practice at this time is not only good for us to clear our thoughts and bring us back to our center, but on an individual basis, it helps us to establish a stronger connection with whatever it is that we feel connected to, however we might understand the universe or energy, and more of a transpersonal and spiritual sense of things. It's a really good way to build that connection in our life and on a tangible level.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :This is a really good time to think about manifestation in terms of tangible steps and when we're thinking about what we want to manifest, being able to think about manifesting small, tangible changes where you'd like to see yourself in a couple of weeks, where you might like to see yourself at the end of the month. Right now, there's something about that tangibility and really bringing it to a grounded manifestation practice, manifesting from a very grounded space that feels really supported. Now sometimes the records will absolutely encourage us to think about big picture manifestation and to dream big and to think about the bigger vision and where we might want to be a few years from now or something much bigger than that. But the energy that I got from the records at this time is that, while that bigger vision stuff it's always good to tap into it if you feel called what is most supported at this time is more of these smaller steps. Again, this is build energy, and we don't build in one giant leap. We build with small changes and small steps and moving in the direction of a goal, moving in the direction of a dream. We are encouraged to dream big and then act in a way that is tangible, measurable and achievable.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :So it might be a really fun journaling prompt to just sit down and write out a vision for where would you like to be at the end of May and what would that look like. Is there anything that you are hoping to accomplish this month and, if so, what would that be? What values and attitudes and beliefs are you building on right now? This is the foundation of whatever it is that you're building. How we think about the world, our perceptions, our beliefs about ourself, our beliefs about what is possible for us All of that creates a strong and healthy foundation for what we are building and how sturdy that's going to be.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :So, thinking about where might you be limiting yourself? Are there any values, attitudes or beliefs that you're working on shifting right now? If there's a place in your life where you're struggling or you feel small or you feel like there's fear or you're holding yourself back in some way, how might you shift that? What would that look like if you wanted to manifest a change in that this month? What would that look like if you wanted to manifest a change in that this month? What might it look like if something feels really stuck to you to allow for a bigger possibility, that something could be different? And when we look at shifting anything that has more to do with our mental thought, construct, energy, how we are thinking about ourselves, our identity, our perceptions. When we identify something that we want to shift, we start thinking about what's that shift? How could it be different? And from that will naturally come our next step. So, like, what tangible action step do I need to take now that I'm allowing for a bigger possibility?
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :How do you want to show up in the world for the month of May? How do you want to show up for yourself? How do you want to show up in the spaces that you occupy If you want to be kinder, if you want to be more loving, if you want to be more joyful, write that down in this journal prompt. What's your vision for the month ahead? What would it look like to say I want to be more grace-filled this month. I want to practice more self-grace, identify what that is and then think about what might that look like If you could imagine yourself four weeks from now. How would you look? Who was a little bit more kinder or a little bit more joyful or a little bit more grace-filled? It's okay if you don't have a perfect vision of what this looks like. Just start with where you're at and envision what you can, and write your intentions down in your journal about what you're building this month.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :So, even though the Akashic said that this is a really good month for practical action, steps, small, tangible steps, small tangible steps. Our dreams are important and we can choose to hold this bigger picture of what dream do I have for my life? Maybe you have a big dream, maybe you don't right now, that's okay. If you are allowing your dreams to recede and rewild and you are regrowing what those are, it's all good wherever you're at, but just thinking about how am I building towards my dreams. How am I building towards this bigger picture that I might be working on for my life? And, like I said, if you don't necessarily have a bigger picture right now, then just thinking about what are my smaller dreams and how am I building towards those. What are some of the things that I envision when I think about this phrase? Living my best life, being my most authentic self, embodying my highest expression. What might that look like, how would that feel like and what do I need to do to keep building towards that and just identifying those things that you can do this month to keep moving yourself in that direction?
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :I want to share a passage from Small Pearls, big Wisdom, and this is called Dream your World, create a Beautiful Reality, and I think it speaks to today's topic really well. Dream your world, create a beautiful reality. Surround yourself with whatever brings out the real in you. Fostering love and truth in your life will help you foster love and truth in yourself. Be a student and allow nature to be your teacher. Talk to the stars and listen for their answer echoing in your soul. See shapes in the clouds and dragons and crowds of swaying trees. Believe in magic and mystery. Remember the ancestors who walked here first. Know that we step where they once trod and now rest. Know that all land and ground are sacred. Know that all land and ground are sacred. Re-establish a connection with it. Learn to set your heartbeat to the beat of the bones of the earth. Learn to beat as one. Learn what true connection means. Stay away from people and places that tear you down.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :Don't change your shape to fit any boxes that don't suit your glorious burst of sunlight, sky and sea. Realize your experience of self is right, real and worthy. Realize your experience of life is the only experience that is going to be the most helpful to you. Don't wait if it's in your heart to do it and you have the means to do it now. Become a waking dream and dream your world. See the world through a rose-colored lens. Create a beautiful reality. Grieve as often as your spirit requires over the cracks and ruptures in this place. Let your heart break daily, if need be, and make up your own sacred ceremonies to honor the pains that you feel and see. But don't let this hurting world make you forget that the healing and binding balm of love unleashed far surpasses everything. Pull anything into you that encourages, supports and nourishes you into blooming like the gorgeous mad wildflower that you are. Grow and keep growing and grow some more until your roots are bound and the ruby ground of the earth and your platinum petals reach up, up up to the pleiades, forming their own milky way. Galaxies become so big you can't ever go back to small.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :I wrote that after I moved to Kauai years ago and I was in the middle of expansion. You can feel it in the words that I wrote. They're really expansive. It is about unboxing ourselves from whatever and however we have felt boxed in and really giving ourselves permission to be big, to expand, to live our life on our own terms, to honor our grief, to honor our experience itself, our experience of self, to allow ourselves imagination and intuition and joy and play. And the line in there about grow and keep growing and grow some more until your roots are bound and the ruby ground of the earth and your platinum petals reach up, up up to the Pleiades.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :I think that that concept of imagining ourselves as having these roots like a giant tree that are into the earth and the roots that we build are based on our values and our beliefs, our attitudes, our history, how we understand ourselves. Sometimes we have to uproot ourselves and transplant ourselves somewhere Sometimes that's physically, sometimes that is through some external changes, but also a lot of internal changes so that we have more space to grow. So we need these deep roots, we need to be anchored. We need the practical, we need the earthly. That is the energy. Right now it's tourist season. We're encouraged to build, to dig into the ground, to think about the tangible and the practical.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :But then that peace, that that tangible and practical is what supports us in growing up, up, up into the sky and dreaming big and having a vision and believing in ourselves. And it is those tangible action steps that we take over and over again that allow us to grow into something bigger and to see a bigger scope of possibility for ourselves. So when I wrote this, I was really learning that we need both the terrestrial and the celestial, and learning how to work with bringing power down from the heavens, the skies, from spirit, and grounding it into the earth, grounding it into my human journey, and then also taking my human ability to move my energy, to take action on my own behalf to live this life and find joy, and figuring out how do I grow, up, up, up and create a bigger vision and feel more connected. Up, up, up and create a bigger vision and feel more connected. So it's this two-way symbiotic relationship. So we feel equipped to work with energy on multiple levels and be both grounded and rooted, and also magical and expansive and big.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright :So, whatever it is that you're building for yourself this month, have fun with it and allow yourself to play with it a little bit and then allow yourself to think about just a couple small ways that you can move your energy in the direction of what you want to build and take action on your behalf and keep moving yourself in the direction of your dreams and your goals, your sense of purpose, your authenticity and how you want to show up in the world at this time. Thank you so much for joining me in today's podcast episode. I will be back next week with a new, your Heart Magic, where we will be talking about a topic related to psychology, spirituality.
