Your Heart Magic

Even Two Minutes of Heart Magic Can Transform Your Day

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright Episode 133

Ever notice how the universe seems to throw its biggest challenges at you right when cosmic energies are at their peak? That's no coincidence.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright explores the powerful practice of anchoring into our hearts during times of transition and cosmic intensity. She shares a personal moment when, despite exhaustion and midnight approaching, she honored her commitment to her oracle card practice – a decision that reset her perspective and reconnected her to her inner wisdom. This authentic glimpse into her spiritual routine reminds us that consistency matters, especially when life feels overwhelming.

The beauty of heart connection lies in its accessibility. You don't need perfect conditions or hours of free time – even two minutes of intentional heart focus can shift your entire energetic state. Like creating a well-worn path through the woods, each time we practice dropping into our heart space, the journey becomes more familiar. We develop spiritual muscle memory that allows us to find our center with increasing ease, even during chaos.

With the Lionsgate portal and full moon energies swirling around us, big transformations are inevitable. But cosmic magic doesn't always arrive wrapped in wonder and delight. Sometimes it comes disguised as disruption, challenging us to stay awake through difficulty. Your heart becomes the compass that helps navigate both the mystical opportunities and the earthly challenges of these powerful times.

Ready to strengthen your connection to your heart's wisdom? Join us for this illuminating episode and discover how to create your own pathway to inner truth. Your heart holds the magic you're seeking – it's time to listen.

Join us next week for an all-new episode of Your Heart Magic and more psychology, spirituality, storytelling, and heart wisdom.

Aloha and welcome to your Heart Magic, an illuminating space where psychology, spirituality and heart wisdom meet. Here's your host, dr Bethann Kapansky-Wright. Author, psychologist and spiritual educator.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

Aloha everybody. This is Dr Bethann Kapansky-Wright. Welcome to your Heart Magic. I wanted to share a few thoughts today on the concept of anchoring into our hearts and the importance of getting into our hearts and using our hearts as a touchstone, building a well of love inside of ourselves, a way to connect with our voice, within our truth, within our heart magic in essence, and why that is so meaningful to me and why I'm such a big believer in it. And it was interesting.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

This is one of those weeks where the podcast almost couldn't have been made if I had let life carry me along with its currents, which are fast and plentiful. This week, and I've often found that when we are going through big changes in the world and when there's big cosmic energy going on, the day this podcast comes out is a couple days before the full moon, on Lionsgate, manifestation energy, big moon energy and all of this very heightened stuff. That is really an invitation to manifest and dream and tap into the cosmic consciousness, cosmic intelligence, to connect with our intuition and to really get our spiritual groove on and make the most of these big energies. At the same time, in my psychology practice and in my personal life right now, I'm hearing a lot of transition going on for people, a lot of change, a lot of upheaval. I know for myself personally.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

Last night I was doing my oracle card reflection of the day. This is something that I often try and do on a daily basis, and sometimes what I'll do as one of my practices is I will just write out a list of questions or a list of things that I need guidance on, so I might write what do I most need to know for my highest good? That's kind of the question, and then I will write down like card one is going to be on this topic, card two is for this challenge, card three is for this thing over here that I have a question about, and there might be three or four cards where I just assign a different topic du jour to them of something that's a challenge in my life or a question mark or something that I want wisdom on. I'm asking the question what do I most need to know about this for my highest good at this time? And then my final card will always be a message from spirit, from the angels, the universe, however. You might want to think about that if you want to adopt that into your own practice. And last night was one of those nights where I had like six cards.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

I had so much stuff and I was doing my cards and it was almost midnight because it was that kind of a day that it was that long and there was just a lot going on and a lot to process, and so I just had this moment of realization that it's so easy to skip these practices and it's so easy for life to happen and for life to carry us along in its currents, as I said, and to sweep us up. It happens to all of us from time to time. But I had that momentary awareness that if I didn't mindfully take that space and drop into my heart and drop into my spiritual connection and my personal inner garden, my personal inner sanctuary I use a lot of narratives that are metaphorical to think of the world within me and how my heart is this portal that helps connect me to my deeper truth and to my wellspring of truth and that also connects me to universal truth and higher perspective and if I didn't take time to get in touch with that and to cut through the mental chatter, everything happening on the surface, and get into my heart space, that it would be really easy to mindlessly just fall asleep and go through the motions of closing out the day and start another day without taking that moment to unlayer myself, to do some release work, to get some insight, and I was really tired, but it was still so helpful. We don't always need a huge space to get big benefits, and I feel like that's a pretty important concept in our modern day world, because sometimes we use the excuse of not having enough time to not do something or we feel like we don't have enough, whatever it is, to adequately tap in, and I've often found that a little bit goes a long way. If you have 10 minutes, take 10 minutes. If you have five, take five. If you have two, take two.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

We talked about last week how little steps, little action steps, add up to something bigger. So I'm a believer that do what you can, even if it's just a tiny little thing, and you can take more time later. But for me last night it really helped me reset myself and remember that it's on me, the onus is on me If I want to cut through the mental chatter, the smog, if you will like, a layer of smog over an atmosphere somewhere that is composed of stress and my own worries about some things in my life and things coming up around my sphere. And if I want to cut through that and come into a space of peace and calm, I have to be intentional about that and I have to carve it out and I have to practice. And when we practice and we figure out some way that we tap in and listen, it could be something like put your hand on your heart, take some deep breaths and ask yourself how am I doing today? Sometimes with clients it's I'll do guided meditation work and I'll ask what color is your heart today, after we've done some breathing and checking in with ourselves and then just doing a what color is your heart today?

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

As a way to connect to the language of the heart and to engage our creative mind, our intuitive, our imaginative mind, and to start to tap into that language of metaphor and feeling and resonance and trusting those intuitive nudges that can help create a pathway into our inner world, our intuitive world. And the more we practice that, the more it becomes well-trod, the more it is like a familiar pathway through the woods that you step on and it just becomes something that you instantly start to anchor in because you walk in the same space multiple times a week, or if you've ever lived somewhere where there's not a trail and you have to make the trail through the mud or the snow or the grass after a while. To make the trail through the mud or the snow or the grass after a while it becomes more well-worn and you know how to follow that, and I think that is a wonderful metaphor for tapping in and anchoring into our hearts. I think we create a set point inside of ourselves of our heart energy when we do that. So like riding a bicycle or going through the motions, where we do something repetitively and our body memorizes this muscle memory of this is what this feels like to me. I think our spiritual practices, our heart practices, any practice that helps us drop in to that inner space, helps us do it more quickly each time we cue ourselves. That this is what I'm going to do now.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

Last night I was very tired late at night doing this, but I still got something out of it because it's well-practiced for me and I know that my little ritual of putting a t-shirt over my lamp to keep the light really dim my husband was already asleep and that's my compromise of can I have the light on and still do my little oracle thing in bed, but it will be dim so you can sleep. Once I do that and I open my journal and I sit down in this really quiet space and I start shuffling the cards and pulling cards. Those are my sensory cues, my body cues, that I'm about to take a moment and pause from my stream of just thinking about things and come into my heart space. And so there's many, many ways we can find that for ourselves. There's many rituals, there's many forms of coming into our heart space. There's not a right or wrong on how to do it, there's just you doing you and figuring out what ways do you tap in.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

But I feel like it's so vital at this time because with big energy and big cosmic changes and big spiritual energy also comes big changes in our life. And sometimes big cosmic stuff doesn't always look like dreamy, juicy, magical, intuitive things coming through. Sometimes it looks like big eruptions happening on the surface, happening in our circumstances, big changes being brought to us that we are asked to face with courage and to stay awake through them, and so we need that way to ground into our heart so we can stay open to the cosmic wonder and all of that beautiful intuitive magic, and so we can stay grounded in ourselves and grounded in our wisdom and grounded in our inner voice, which is, I think, what is most valuable in helping us navigate our lives that inner compass inside of us. There might be wonderful things that we read from many people writing wise things on social media platforms, and many of them know what they're talking about. At the same time, they can't tell you what's in your heart and they can't tell you what might hold true for you or what you might need in a given moment. It is more of an umbrella of here's some energies to be aware of, here's some wisdoms to think of. But ultimately, you are your truth seeker and you are the one who can compass yourself into your heart and listen to that inner truth. And so that's my exhortation for you, for this podcast this week is to be mindful of how do you tap in, how do you come into that compass inside of you, and to know that right now, with these big magical energies going on, if life doesn't feel so magical, that's okay too.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

With big spiritual energy always comes big change on the earth. It goes hand in hand. You don't have one without the other and we can't always control what change looks like. It is both creativity and chaos, love and grief. There's so many emotions happening right now and so many things going on, and it doesn't always present itself in a way that we would understand is magical. It does not mean that magic's not there, so stay open to whatever is coming through this week, even if it's really challenging, even if you can't see the light in it yet, and it's something hard. Sometimes it takes us a while to understand the magic of something or to understand the gift that was there.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

And I want to share a passage today from Small Pearls, big Wisdom to finish up this podcast. I'm smiling over here. I don't know if you can hear it in my voice, but I chose this passage it's called Lighthouses of Hope because when I was thinking about what do I talk about on the podcast today and I thought, well, talk about this experience and how I really easily could have skipped this week, but I didn't want to. I really try and show up as much as I can in this space. I think in the three years I've been doing it, I've only taken one week off and I am open to those weeks that I just can't do it and to give myself permission to take space and have grace if I need it. But I am a believer in consistency and constancy and right now, at this point in time, it still feels most right to me in my heart to be consistent in this space and to show up here and share something and know that there are others out there that I might not ever meet or talk to, but maybe you're nodding along or it resonates with you. So thank you for being here with me today and this Lighthouses of Hope passage that I want to share. As I said, I'm smiling because I realize it's passage 333, magical angel number there, lighthouses of Hope.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

When I get discouraged about the world, when I notice that hopelessness and helplessness are setting in, or empathy and compassion fatigue begin to creep in, or a news feed brings more angry faces, words and events that make my heart want to give up and split, when I get like this, I am reminded it is time to lay it down, turn it off, let it go. Breathe, look up, shift, shift. My focus to all that is right, all that is joy and all that is the distance I've come. My repository of recollections and collections of good become my lighthouses of hope in the huge sweep of life's storm. They light my way with words of grace Keep walking. You haven't quit yet. Don't start now. Keep on with joy. There is always joy to be found. Cry when you need and laugh like you must, for laughter will always be the true magnetic compass that leads you out of the lost forest of despair. Breathe, my dear one. Breathe. We are nothing without breath. Stop looking to the world to set your tone. You were never meant to be well-adjusted to a maladjusted system. Instead, bring it back to the only world you can control the space inside your heart. Be still, be you, be peace, be real and let the energy of love flow from there. I was going to close with that today, but surprise bonus second passage that I want to share I had it flash in my head to read another one as well. So I ran and grabbed Revelations of the Sky, and this passage is called August Blessing, and I want to offer this out to anybody today as well who needs a little bit of extra TLC in their life. Passage 91, august Blessing from Revelations of the Sky.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

Sometimes we have those weeks with a lot of twists and turns, where worlds fall into the convoluted cracks and our small spaces of still pause and silence become extremely golden. That's life sometimes, isn't it? Twisted and turned, with cracks in between, and we learn to anchor ourselves in the pauses, cradle, our moments of solitude, raindrops and grounding into whatever feels and heals our hearts as home. We find ourselves again in those spaces, tap into sacred laughter and gentler ways of being, allow our ego states to fall away as we drop into deeper truths that bring us back to the light within and allow us to reconnect and rekindle.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:

If you've had one of those weeks, then I wish you ease. If you're feeling fatigued, then I wish you rest. If you're feeling grieved, then I wish your heart the comfort of a thousand angel songs, and if you're in need of joy, then I offer you this wisdom Go find something that makes you laugh, because when we can find levity and the gravity, all the heavens smile with us, be good to you and cherish your soul. It holds the truth of who you are. Thank you so much for joining me on the podcast today. I will be back next week with an all-new episode of your heart magic on some topic related to psychology, spirituality, creativity and heart, wisdom and, in the meantime, have a beautiful week and, as always, be well, be loved, be you, be loved, be you and be magic.
