Your Heart Magic
Cutting Through the Noise: Wisdom from the Akashic Records
Ever feel like you're drowning in noise—from social media, news cycles, and even your own mental chatter? You're not alone. The Akashic Records have a timely message about "cutting through the noise" during this transformative period in late September.
In this episode, we explore the Records' guidance for navigating the intense energies of late September, focusing on "cutting through the noise" to reconnect with our core values and inner wisdom. The metaphor of a cake knife slicing through layers reveals the importance of discernment during times of overwhelming change.
Key talking points include:
• What's pulling at your attention, and is it worth your time?
• Reconnecting with core values as an anchor during chaotic times
• Three-layer journaling practice to clear mental clutter
• Top layer: brain dump of mental chatter
• Middle layer: practical concerns and to-do lists
• Bottom layer: connecting with heart wisdom
• The Hermit card appears as confirmation of the need for introspection
• Living authentically requires continually tuning out the world's expectations
Rather than offering complicated spiritual practices, this episode delivers three powerful questions that act as your compass: What's pulling at your attention? Is it worth your time? What are your core values? These simple inquiries create immediate clarity when life feels chaotic. Dr. BethAnne shares a personal example of catching self-doubt and choosing to release it rather than waste precious energy on unhelpful thought patterns.
The synchronistic appearance of the Hermit card confirms this inward journey is exactly what we need right now. Place your hand on your heart. Take a deep breath. Remember that even in solitude, you belong to yourself, to nature, and to love.
Join us next week after Equinox for a special episode celebrating nature, balance, and harmony.

Aloha and welcome to your Heart Magic, an illuminating space where psychology, spirituality and heart wisdom meet. Here's your host, dr Bethann Kapansky-Wright. Author, psychologist and spiritual educator.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:Aloha everybody, welcome to your Heart Magic. This is Dr Bethann Kapansky-Wright, and today we have an energy update for the week from the Akashic Records. I opened the records and looked at the energy for the second half of September because I personally felt inspired to zoom in on this chunk of time. Right now there's so much happening we have a new moon coming up, equinox is coming up, there is a lot going on in the world at this time. There is a lot going on in the world at this time and with all of that energy swirling, I find it helpful for my own practice to go into the records and receive guidance, and this week I thought, well, why not share that on the podcast? If it is something that I feel is helpful and it's so grounding to me, I think others would relate to it and connect with it as well. So it was kind of interesting when I opened the Akashic Records for this week ahead and I opened it specifically for the second half of the month of September I was hearing and seeing the phrase cutting through the noise and I also had an image of this big cake knife and it was going through a layer cake and it was cutting through the layers so that one could not only have their piece of cake, but the emphasis was on the idea of layers and cutting through something and really seeing what's there, and so all the imagery and the feeling that was coming through was right now there's a profound invitation to cut through the noise, cut through the chatter, cut through the layers and really bring things back to a core place where we feel grounded, where we feel like we can see things clearly, where we feel like we can get into our hearts. I really had this colossal sense of chaos swirling right now noise swirling, things happening at such a rapid fire velocity, and the greater message from the Akashic Records for the fourth quarter of 2025 is all about change and embracing change and leaning into the change and surrendering into it, and so there's a lot of change energy happening at this time, and I don't think that is something that is really revolutionary to anybody listening to this. We are all tuned in in our own ways, to what's happening in the world around us and our communities, and we know we're in the middle of change. We know change is the only constant.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:I think it feels more evident than ever, though, and that oftentimes, many of us are looking at some of the things happening and saying, well, I don't have a script for this, I don't have a good template for how to navigate this and how to work with some of the fluctuations and challenges and information that is coming up and coming through at this time. And so what do I do with this? And it can be absolutely overwhelming to figure out how to ground ourselves and what to tune into and how to stay focused and on our paths and discerning. And what if I really were to make a laundry list of all the different things that we could potentially do to stay centered, to practice good judgment, to stay connected. It feels overwhelming to me, even when we're trying to come at it from a spiritual perspective, and so the message this week from the Akashic felt really on point with this idea of how do we just come back to the core of things and cut through all the noise, including our own mental chatter, and come back into that space of groundedness and come back into our center. So they gave some really good guidance that I want to share with you and some questions, some self-exploration questions that we can ask ourselves, and these can absolutely be used as contemplation or journaling prompts. And the first one is what's pulling at you and trying to get your attention?
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:I really like this question because I think if we just sit down and, in our journal, make a list of all the different things that might be pulling at our attention, and that could be anything from things that we might see on the internet, social media, something that is a little bit more technologically oriented. It could be people, commitments and obligations. It could be things that somebody wants us to do something and we're on the fence about saying yes. It could be something that is less relational and social and coming from more of a space within ourselves. Am I getting distracted by my own thought process, by my own mental chatter? And the follow-up question to that was is it worth your time? And I love this question so much because our time is so valuable and I'm not into maximizing time in a sense that makes us feel like we always have to be living to the fullest or being productive or making sure that we've accounted for every single moment.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:I think many people are really challenged with wasting time by scrolling or being online or feeling sometimes maybe we procrastinate and don't feel like we use our time well, and there's all sorts of tips and tools and strategies to try and manage those things better in our life. Having said that, I also think that sometimes we just have to have grace and recognize that we can't always be maximizing time and spending it wisely. I think we aim for the ballpark of that, that we try and get close to having a sense that we are using our time well, and that that's not about perfection. It's about feeling like, the majority of the time, we are doing good things with the time that we've been given that resonate with us, and so when we recognize that we're spending time dwelling on something, falling down the rabbit hole and reading something or looking at something, watching something, anything that doesn't really line up in our personal value systems, where we feel like something's worth our time, then there's an invitation there to remap and relook at what we're giving our time to. And so I really like this question, and both of these questions that the Akashic gave us were given in a really nonjudgmental way. These are more questions for personal evaluation and discernment and practicing wisdom.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:Right now, there's not a right or wrong answer to any of this. Somebody might say that they really enjoy watching cat videos or something, and that's a great use of their time because it makes them laugh and they feel lighter and that they need time for their brain to unwind and to focus on something silly or frivolous. And so it's not about right or wrong and it's not about justifying what we're doing to anybody's spirit. It's not out there judging you. There's not some universal judge with a gavel telling you that you're wasting your time or that you're doing a good job with your time. It's not about that. It's about coming into our own personal value system and checking in with ourselves and asking how do I feel about this and does this feel good to me?
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:I'll give you a really good example. It's a really simple one, but it was a thought that I had the other night. I'm doing a choreography project and I was driving back home from it and I had this moment of self-doubt, with some of the dance I'd come up with and an exchange that I'd had that evening. It was something really small. This was just my anxiety mind, my self-doubt, my stuff that was coming up, and it was this kind of hit to confidence and I maybe entertained this way of thinking for just a little bit of time and I had this moment of clarity driving where I just thought this is just not even worth wasting any time worrying about. I cannot control how something is being perceived. I can't control any of that. All I can do is show up as myself and show up with my best, and I just chose in the moment to let it go, to not even go down that pathway of thinking and go into any self-doubt, anything that entertains a lack of confidence in myself or my work, and that was really striking to me. It was something that I kind of took with me and thought I really want to stay mindful for myself of when I am falling into self-doubt or mental chatter or anything that undermines my path.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:At this time where I waste time questioning myself or questioning my journey or questioning something about me and it really doesn't matter. It's just getting in the way of me feeling empowered to keep being myself and sharing my light and doing me in the best way that I know how in any given moment. And so sometimes when we're asking ourself is this worth my time? It could be something that's pulling at us from outside of us. It can also be an old story or an old value or something that is pulling at us from within us. So it doesn't matter, it can come from different directions. But when we recognize that we're giving our time, our thought, our energy to something that doesn't really feel like it's supporting or serving us, then there's an opportunity there for evaluation of how could I redirect my focus at this time. And we're not rejecting whatever it is that we decide is a waste or just not worth it. We're just reallocating and saying this is just not the direction I want to go at this time and I'm just going to reorient myself and refix my focus.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:The other question that the Akashic gave us is what are your core values and the guidance to reconnect with those at this time? And I really like that as well, because I think when we're trying to cut through the noise of life and cut through the sheer quantity of information and events happening and the massive amount of big energy that we might be feeling within the collective or in our own individual communities and perhaps families and relationships, when we're trying to cut through that and find ourselves in the mix especially if you run really empathic or very energetically sensitive it can be really hard to discern what's mine and what is just energy right now. What's noise? What's me being pulled into something and so that idea of what are your values and connecting with those again and then being able to just ask yourself am I in alignment with those right now? And again, we're doing this with compassion.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:This is not about judgment or shaming ourselves if we feel like we're off track. It's more of an invitation and a way to come back into our center and perhaps we say well, my values are trying to be peaceful, trying to practice grace, trying to be more self-loving. There's so many different things that might fall under that umbrella of core values and there might be times that we're focusing more on some core values than others in our life. Like specifying our focus, if you're really practicing self-love right now, then maybe that is the core value that you check in with first. And if you can say to yourself yes, I think I'm in alignment with that right now and I'm really working hard on my path right now to stay in self-love and to give self-love for not only myself, but perhaps so I can better love the people around me and give myself grace, give them grace then that's a beautiful way to use that to accomplish yourself right now and stay centered as you navigate life. So I really love these questions the Akasha gave us. I think they're very edifying. Really love these questions the Akashic gave us. I think they're very edifying, they're really useful.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:The other thing that I want to offer and this is not from the Akashic records, this is just a Bethann idea but I want to give a journaling prompt for this week that ties into this message of cutting through the noise and it's something that I sometimes use in my own journaling time and I find it really helpful. And I will do three different focuses in my journal. And the first one is this idea of the top layer and what kinds of things are cluttering up my mind. And sometimes that's called a brain dump where you just free write anything and everything that's in your mind. But I will put out on a piece of paper all the stuff right now that feels like the pollution in my mind, and it's not all a pollutant. I just think of it as that energetic smog that I try and burn off so that I can really get more clear and clear my mind out to connect. So that's the first one. It's just writing out whatever it is that's at the top of your mind, without any judgment, without any need to fix, solve, resolve, anything like that. You're just clearing space.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:And then the next layer is looking at things from more of a practical lens, and that is what concerns do I have right now? Where might I need support? What's on my to-do list? This is more of the practical stuff that goes beyond just mental chatter and idle notions and actually is what's preoccupying my attention and life at this time, and I find this really useful. I actually have quite a few to-do lists in my journal that are sandwiched in between oracle card readings and prayers to spirit and all of those things.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:There might be a grocery list in the middle of all of that, but I do that practice because it really helps me to identify what needs to get done today, maybe this week, what is running through my mind that I know I need to bring out into my external life and take care of this. I might, from just writing that list, have a couple steps that I need to do. I might write I need to get some support on this. It really helps me organize, not just the task of what's happening in my life, but see what feels like something that either I just need to get done and punch it out or I actually have more concern about, and that kind of takes me into the last layer and that is the heart of the matter, takes me into the last layer and that is the heart of the matter, what's really on my heart? And so sometimes I might identify, just through those practices, something that's really bothering me, and so maybe that's what I want some guidance from in my spirit time. Maybe it's something that has to do with a desire to connect with my heart more, something having to do with my spiritual practice.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:A lot of times that third layer is where I might do a tarot or oracle card reading and I might ask questions about what's the energy around me at this time, what's my best focus, best guidance right now, what's the message from the universe for me today? And that's a really good way to tap into my soul, to get to the heart of the matter, to tap into my heart wisdom and to come into my core values. And it's really simple. It doesn't require a lot to do this. It just requires taking a little bit of time and carving out that time so that I'm able to take that space for self-examination and reflection. So the takeaway message from the Akashic for this week was really about staying aware of the massive amount of things and information and change that is pulling on us at this time and choosing to engage with discernment and with good judgment and just trying to stay mindful and, when we realize we've gotten wrapped up into it, taking that space so that we can come back into our core and come back into our center.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:I also pulled a tarot card this week for a little bit of support for the week. I love this so much because I did a really good shuffle in the deck and just asked for a card to support the message right now and support the energy, and I got the card the Hermit. And the Hermit is a card about solitude. It's a card about seeking stillness and coming into ourselves and coming into our inner wisdom and seeking enlightenment. Enlightenment not necessarily being going up to a mountaintop to meditate, to open up to the cosmic mysteries. Enlightenment is just turning the lights on in the rooms inside of ourselves, inside of our lives, that previously felt dark, so we can examine what's there, and not being afraid of bringing whatever is in the unconscious and bringing it into the light, into our consciousness, so we can explore it and develop awareness and grow, transmute all those good things that we do in our inner work. The tarot deck I'm using is the Good Tarot by Colette Barron-Reed, and the message for this card from the guidebook is Hermit time out.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:Sometimes it's necessary to take time out for regrouping and introspection. This is a temporary experience, but one necessary for my growth. When I step back, retreat, regroup and renew, I have a clear perspective on everything in my life. I want to close today with a passage from Small Pearl's Big Wisdom. This is called we Belong to Love.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:Sometimes, walking our truth can be a lonely road. I've had many moments of feeling like a hungry ghost, palms pressed against the glass, yearning for a seat at the banquet table. The tea party of authenticity might be a juicy wild ride, but it will require more of us. It mostly requires us to continually tune out the chatter and buzz in this world which tells us who to be, how to be and how to do things a certain way. We will be asked to continually shed old ways of being and leave behind old skins. We will be asked to keep living our authentic truth by taking things back to a space of ourselves, to engage in solitude, to create space for our higher selves and truths to come in, to wade through the world's chatter, sifting the sands for our gems of wisdom. It can get lonely in the solitude space, but please remember above all else that even in loneliness we belong to ourselves, we belong to nature, we belong to our heart and we belong to love. You are not alone on the journey and you can always keep tapping into your heart's wisdom, which is endlessly available to guide and direct us. Please keep on doing you.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:Be intentional about creating space. Challenge external messages, open your mind's eye and examine all things for truth. Place your hand on your heart often and ask yourself how do I feel about this and what do I need to know for my highest truth? Invite your wiser self into the mix and ask for deeper wisdom. Live life from the inside out. Create rose gardens in your heart. Plant seeds of authenticity in the entirety of your being and water them with your faith, fortitude and refusal to be anyone other than yourself. Allow yourself space to grow. Place your hand on your heart and gratitude for all that you're becoming and all that you've become.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright:Thank you so much for joining me today on the podcast. I will be back next week with an all new your Heart Magic.
