We explore how to trust instincts, measure nonlinear progress, and embody The Emperor’s clean, grounded authority in daily choices. Think clear boundaries, values-led routines, and simple, dated actions that break inertia.
Along the way, we invite you to track both linear milestones and nonlinear gains, training your attention to witness progress without perfectionism.
Key themes include:
• weekly energy points to empowered decisions

Aloha and welcome to Your Heart Magic, an illuminating space where psychology, spirituality, and heart wisdom meet. Here's your host, Dr. Bethane Kapansky Wright, author, psychologist, and spiritual educator.
SPEAKER_00:Aloha, everybody. This is Dr. Bethane Kapansky Wright. Welcome to Your Heart Magic. And for this week's episode, we have a weekly energy update. It is Aquarius season, and there is fresh energy coming in. We're on the heels of a new moon and moving towards the full moon at the end of the month. And things are changing. And the Akashic records echo that. They said that this is a week for forward momentum. And those were the words that I was given as kind of a little summary phrase of what's the overall energy for the week. And I find this interesting because they didn't say momentum, they didn't say sideways momentum, backwards momentum. They actually said forward momentum. So I want to talk about that a little bit in a moment. But first of all, the overall energy, just to give us all a touchstone to work from for today, is that this is a week where we are going to see ourselves feel more empowered to make decisions on our own behalf. I felt a lot of freedom and space opening up as I was opening the records. And it felt like what that might translate to is feeling the obstacles that have been in your way, or perhaps you've been in a period of indecision about something and going back and forth. And it felt like things were going to come together, where each of us feels more able to have insights and then take decisive action in our individual paths. So I not only saw this idea of clear open spaces ahead, and that's an image the Akashic has been kind of playing with and giving to us as the overall energy for the first quarter, but I saw somebody like decisively moving, like they were driving in a car or taking confident strides in that wide open space. And so there's a shift from energy that has felt perhaps a little bit more like a blank slate, a little bit more contemplative, evaluative, taking time to think things through and still do some processing, wiping off some of the dust bunnies from 2025 and thinking about what do I want to create in this calendar year ahead. And it just feels like this is a week where things start to come together. This might not necessarily translate as huge roller coaster energy or launching a rocket where there's this huge energy and takeoff. Perhaps it will for you, but more likely it will come through in a way that feels like an empowered stride or an empowered step or something that you've been putting off and you just find what you need to do it, to make the phone call, to make the decision. So I will be curious to see for myself how that shows up, to hear from some of you for how that's showing up. And I love how this energy, even though it is for all of us, comes through in these unique individual ways that somehow seems to shape itself to our individual past at this time. But of course it does, right? Not only am I bringing through a message for the records for the podcast, but when I bring these energy updates through, I actually think of you, I think of the listener. Some of you I know, some of you I've probably have never met and might not ever meet, but I thank all of you for being here and tuning in. And I will usually ask for a message, not just for the collective, but say specifically for the listeners of this podcast, something that speaks to those who are tuning in and who might listen to this. I figure spirit knows who you are. So these words are not only collective, but they are specific to the, we'll say the group of souls tuning in right now. So pay attention this week to areas in your life where you feel like you know just what to do. The guidance for navigating this is to trust your instincts and your impulses. Don't second guess yourself. It almost feels like for many of us, there's things we've been thinking about or going back and forth on. And all of a sudden it's like, okay, this I think is the direction I want to go. And sometimes when we want to make sure we're making a right decision, we're really tempted to say, but I don't want to be hasty. But if you have been thinking about something for a while or doing some of that evaluation work and going back and forth in your mind, and all of a sudden you have a sense of, I think I need to go in this direction, the guidance is to trust that that instinct, that impulse is not coming out of nowhere. It's not coming out of something that you grabbed out of thin air and you're throwing spaghetti at a wall and you're going to try something out. Many of these instincts and impulses that come through feel like something that a lot of us have been actually chewing on or thinking about or weighing decisions about or feeling uncertain about for quite a while. Like we've been doing the inner work to sift through and to figure things out. And so if you have an inclination of, ah, I think this is it, then try and lean into that and see where that takes you. And don't overthink and second guess yourself this week. It just feels really supportive for movement and like some of the themes or ongoing goals or intentions some of us have been working with might reach a natural conclusion or moved into the next phase this week because of some of the actions we feel guided to take. Now, I asked the Akashic Records, I've been loving this question. As I'm doing these energy updates, I always ask, what's a journaling prompt for the week ahead? So when I'm doing and giving the journaling prompts on these, this isn't necessarily me thinking what journal prompt fits this energy. I've actually been asking the records, and I really like the one that they gave us. It is, how can I learn to measure progress non-linearly? I want to tell you what came through on this because linear progress is pretty easy to measure. Linear progress is A plus B equals C. It is seeing a goal, moving in the direction of a goal, and being able to look at the many ways we have had growth towards that goal. Perhaps sometimes when we're doing that, we might want to be really expansive and give ourselves credit for any mini little steps, any micro wins, anywhere that we've seen progress, but it's much easier to measure that. Nonlinear progress is a little bit more interesting and different to measure. First of all, nonlinear is as it sounds, it's more curvy, swervy progress. It's progress that isn't always A plus B equals C. It could be A plus B minus D times whatever ends us up somewhere else, and the growth is there all the same. Nonlinear progress says that a river might meander, but it will arrive where it needs to go if you trust the flow, and that we don't always have to point ourselves in a specific direction in order to make progress on the path. And the way that I like to think about this question is that if you have specific goals to share, let's say you want to travel somewhere or you're trying to do something where you want to educate yourself more or write a book or run a race or uh follow through on something that you've been working on for a while, something that's a little bit more easy to measure in terms of its progress, you might think about what are the underpinnings of that goal? Am I trying to better myself? Am I setting a goal because I want to better myself? That's true for most of us. We don't set goals because they're easy to achieve. We set them because something inside of us wants the growth. We want to learn. We think it would be really cool to take a journey of building towards something and being able to accomplish something. When we really look at what's driving a goal and really examine our why, a lot of times what many of us might see underneath that is we're trying to find spiritual growth. Perhaps we want to grow creatively, we want to grow our potential. We perhaps point ourselves in a direction because we're trying to create more purpose or direction or structure in our life. There's always something underneath the goal if we dig into it and look at why does this matter to me in the first place? How am I trying to grow in character? How might I be growing spiritually or mentally, physically, emotionally at this time? And so that is the stuff that we're encouraged to look at when we talk about how do I measure nonlinear progress? How are you growing as a human right now? How are you growing as a soul? How might your soul look at your journey at this time and say, even though maybe you didn't do any of the things on your January list, you learned a lot about perhaps sitting with uncertainty, being more patient on yourself. You're learning about creative adaptation, thinking about how to look at your life in a more out-of-the-box, expanded way and consider what does nonlinear progress mean to you? That's the question we were given this week. And I just really like this question because I feel like we are absolutely at a time in humanity and on our spiritual paths where we are being increasingly called upon to be adaptive, to be creative, to be resourceful, to see things from a bigger vantage point, to surrender the past and the plan and how we thought it would look, to be open to what is presenting itself to us. And so I feel like this question just dovetails so beautifully with personally what I feel are some of the qualities we need right now to navigate the craziness of the journey at this time and being a human on planet Earth in the year 2026. Our tarot card of the week, it's the emperor. And I am was excited to pull this card. I always like it when I get a card from the major arcana because there's just that bigness of energy and major arcana cards. And the emperor is all about structure and taking charge of our life. The emperor is decisive. An emperor, a good emperor, makes decisions on behalf of the collective peoples or groups or whatever the emperor is serving and makes decisions for the good of all. And so I love translating this to our individual journey of how do I make decisions for the good of all of me, the whole of my ecosystem, all aspects of myself. And maybe as an extension of that, it's also making movement in our life that perhaps benefits families, those around us, our friends. Of course, when we are working on doing things that help grow us and help us move into alignment, usually those around us benefit in some shape or form because we feel more alive, more authentic, more soulful, more in our power. So that's usually a win-win for everyone. But this is a card that encourages the energy of making decisive action, creating grounded steps in your life to take, and looking at how do I move things forward in a way that keeps me in my personal power, my personal authority, my soul sovereignty, and feeling empowered to make those decisions. Again, looping back to that guidance from the Akashic, it is to trust yourself, to not second guess, to trust your instincts, trust what you know. Last week's message was all about being an expert, coming into your wisdom, clear seeing, really connecting with your unique intelligence. And part of self-trust and being in our personal power is trusting that. And remembering it's not about getting things perfect. It's not about getting everything right. It's not about never making a mistake. It's about making the best choice that we know how, feeling empowered to take action, to make choices, to make decisions, to stand in what we know, and feeling that we can trust ourselves to take the next step on the path. And we can absolutely trust our future self to figure it out. If for any reason we realize that we don't like a step that we've taken, we've got this. I want to close with a poem today. And this is from my book, Heliotrope Knight, Starlight for the Mind and Soul. And quite honestly, I chose this poem because when I sat down to make the podcast, this was the closest of my books that was laying by me. And I just kind of opened it up and intuitively thought, like, what words want to be shared today? And the words that I want to share actually is a poem, it's the kind of namesake of this book. It's a poem called Heliotrobe Knights. And it says, We make it so hard, but the sum of faith is you just have to believe in yourself, to soar towards the stars, and your own capacity to reach up and touch the sky, hold it in your grasp, sew yourself into life's violent desk of change, arriving recklessly, faithfully, fearlessly, to the invitation of a heliotrope night. You are already magnificent, can't you see? And the only thing holding you back is you placing yourself into smallness of boxes, squeezing yourself into cords of restrain. Do you see the bright light that speaks from your lips? Such brilliance, those lavender seeds that stream from your heart. You can grasp whatever you choose for the taking. But in the end, it comes down to finding the nerve to be your own source, your own creation, your own genesis of art. With that, have a beautiful week. I will be back here next week with a new Your Heart Magic episode. As always, be well, be love, be you, and be magic.
