Hold Your Center, Guard Your Peace: Akashic Energy Update

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wright Episode 158

When the world feels prickly and loud, we don’t need sharper edges—we need steadier centers. This week, we open with an Akashic Energy Update that names the spiky charge many of us are sensing and offers a calm, practical path: extreme self-care that protects without hardening.

We unpack why reactivity is running high, how to recognize when you’re attaching to noise, and the simple checks that bring you back into your body and your values. The Queen of Fire anchors a turn from chaos to centered creativity, using turbulence as a metaphor for grounded presence during eclipse season. Key themes include:

• extreme self-care as centered protection
• choosing softness over reactivity
• feelings as weather, not identity
• turbulence metaphor for grounding
• eclipse season shakeups and resets
• Queen of Fire and creative sovereignty
• values inventory and updated anchors
• life as art and co-creation

Press play to ground, soften, and spark your next chapter with intention. If this conversation supported you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs it, and leave a review so others can find the show. What’s one ritual you’ll use to hold your center this week?

SPEAKER_01:

Aloha, everybody. Welcome to Your Heart Magic. This is Dr. Bethane Kapansky Wright, and we have this week's Akashic Energy Update today and our tarot card of the week. Starting with the Akashic Energy Update today, the message this week is all about extreme self-care. And I was laughing to myself a little bit after I wrote this message down and brought through the talking points for today. And I thought, oh, how lovely this coincides with Valentine's Day, which I personally feel is a day that is really about love and self-love, and always invites us to ask the question of how can I be a good friend to myself? How can I be more self-loving to myself? I've always loved that interpretation of this day, regardless of who else, how else we might choose to celebrate or not celebrate. I think of February as a month of self-love. And this message is all about self-love. It's about extreme self-care and staying mindful of protecting our space, not in a way that necessarily feels defensive and hard, but more in a way of staying centered, staying self-aware, and staying mindful of what we're giving our energy to at this time. What are we attaching to? What is happening in our thought life, our emotional world? There is an invitation to self-awareness and checking in with ourselves quite a bit right now. The energy itself feels spiky. And that is a word that I'm not ever sure I've used in an Akashic update before. But when I opened the Akashic Records, the first thing I saw was all these different kinds of spiky images, like stalactolites in a cave or being on a mountain and somebody's walking and there's all these jagged cliffs and peaks. I saw somebody trying to navigate a path, and there was all these kind of sharp, thorny bushes around them. And the individual themselves was safe and in the middle of just taking this journey, but around them was kind of this spiky, prickly energy. And it feels like that's a metaphor for us right now that the energy itself feels kind of prickly right now. And when I say the word prickly, there's many ways that might come through. But I think what we might see is that tempers might be running higher, people around us might be more reactive. We might find ourselves being more reactive and feeling like we are the prickly porcupine energy right now. I feel maybe a lot of tension. There might be a lot of chaos, negative kind of chaos, where there's just a lot of chatter and ideas flying around, and it feels more destructive than constructive and the kinds of things that we might attach to, and it knocks us off of our path for a while. And so the emphasis is about continually coming back into ourselves, checking in with ourselves and staying centered and aware, specifically, according to the Akashic, staying centered in the things that help ground you and help bring an element of softness into your life. I like this contrast here that if the energy feels sharper right now, and we are subject to that, so we might not necessarily feel gooey and warm and open-hearted. Maybe we do, maybe we don't, depends on where you're at right now. As I said, we might be personally on our path feeling kind of prickly ourselves. What would soften you? What helps you come into a space in your life that helps you really connect with what keeps you warm inside, what keeps you more graceful, what keeps you a little bit softer, what do you hold dear to you? What do you value? These are often questions the Akashic asks us with the idea that we really keep reworking our inventory of what is it that anchors us? And I think part of self-work is that when we realize things that were holding us might no longer be as relevant for us, or some things may be faded or dated, that we can continually come back into what continues to hold true. What does anchor me now? What does center me now? What kinds of things keep my heart softer, more open to myself? We can have fierce protective energy for ourselves and be wise and discerning and then have a big, open, warm heart to ourselves as well. We can be both fierce and soft. We can be really bold and roar if we need to, and also be very grace-filled and very warm in our inner space. So working with those juxtapositions of energy and seeing being protective of ourselves, not as a defensive measure, but more as an empowerment measure to keep us centered and to really stay aware of what you're giving your time, your attention, your energy, your feelings, your thoughts to. Something else the Akashic said specifically for this week is to stay mindful of our reactions and to hold space for ourselves wherever we're at, without necessarily trying to judge it, change it, fix it, make us be somewhere that we're not. So whatever you're feeling, whatever is going on with you, it is okay to simply observe it, to stay aware of it, to perhaps ask yourself how can I love myself in this? How can I constructively work with whatever it is that's coming up for me? And knowing that that feeling might not be your final resting place. Just because we feel something doesn't mean it's our absolute truth and we're always going to feel that way. And that is the truth of a situation or the truth of our circumstance or the truth about ourselves or whatever it is that our feelings are informing us about. It means it's an aspect of something we're experiencing in reaction to something going on within us or around us. And as we give ourselves space to process, to love ourselves where we're at, to be an observer and a good witness to ourselves where we're at, to journal about a feeling or try and work with it. As we do those things, feelings are fluid and sometimes they start to shift. And so our final resting place for where we end up with something that we're working through might not always be what we feel at the beginning of the process or even the middle of a process. So staying mindful that you are in a process and just letting yourself be where you're at without necessarily attaching this over-interpretation to it, that you're always going to be in this space, you're always going to feel this way, might be really helpful this week. We were also given the image of turbulence this week to work with. And that if we were in turbulence, there's a couple ways that one could work with that. One, you can focus on the turbulence and you can try and fixate on it and attach to the turbulence and maybe hope that the turbulence stops and have a whole story around the turbulence, or you can start securing yourself and figuring out what do I need to do to be safe right now? What do I need to do to be secure? I suppose going with that metaphor, if we were on an airplane, we'd probably make sure our seatbelt was buckled and everything was stowed really correctly and maybe try and breathe, check in with the person next to us, but try and do something that helps us retain our center, even if things are changing around us. And that metaphor is a beautiful image for how we might work with the energy right now. It is eclipse season. We have the Aquarius new moon and the eclipse on the 17th. I often think of eclipse season as a time where there's a lot of shakeups happening. It is often a time where things are shifting. There's a lot of transformation that can come through. Sometimes that can feel disruptive. It can be big energy that will show up in a variety of ways for each of us on our individual journeys. But this overarching theme that there might feel like a little bit of extra turbulence, agitated energy, things being shooken up right now, and coming back to that place of just seeing yourself doing what you need to do to secure yourself, to ground yourself, and to stay in your center as much as possible is going to be a beautiful way to navigate the energy right now. Our tarot card of the week is the Queen of Fire. Fire is creative energy, it's inspiration. When I think about queen energy and the tarot, I think about being in our center, being in that space of inner sovereignty and nobility, finding that real feminine energy of attracting into us, allowing, giving grace to things, being quick to receive, to intuit, to self-nurture, to create, and slower to run forward or act in a way that would feel hasty or impulsive. I think about a queen as somebody who holds their center with grace and dignity and fire energy, which I think is really fun since it's the year of the fire horse. And I feel like this card kind of ties into that. But that fire energy is about what lights us up, what our passions are, our creativity and our inspiration. Fire is also about transformation. I do feel that the queen represents more of a we've been through the transformation. We've come out in this place of being able to hold our center. We're not in the middle of the chaos and busy transforming. That was a lot of the stuff that was happening last year in 2025 for us. This is more about holding space for the alchemy that's taken place and how are we feeling called to bring that out into the world moving forward into the rest of the year in a way that moves our creative passions and our inspirations forward. So when I think about how do we understand and blend these two messages together, part of that self-care and really staying connected to yourself and staying connected to what you value also is an invitation to stay connected to your heart, to your genesis of creativity, to your dreams and your visions and your hopes for your life, holding your space in that very queenly, warm way that allows you to create a pathway to keep moving your inspirations forward in the world, regardless of what's going on around you. Key words associated with this card are creative collaborations, soul connections, passion inspired by spirit, and artist. I love the idea when I see this card that we are each artist in our own way. Our life is our art. I've talked about that idea before on the podcast, but I think it's so fun whether or not you identify as an artist in a traditional sense to recognize that we are architecting our lives, we are building our lives, we are creating and painting and coloring and every single day creating some kind of art out of the day. And sometimes we really like the art we've made, sometimes we don't like the art that we've made and we decide to try something new. But I think it's a really fun, playful, whimsical way to think about how we engage with our life. And I really love this question from the guidebook that I feel like really brings this message home. How might I join in the dance of co-creation, letting spirit flow through me and inspire me to express my passions? That feels like a beautiful note to end on today. With that, have a wonderful week. Happy Valentine's Day and happy new moon to everybody. Happy Lunar New Year as well, and happy all the things. I will be back with a New Your Heart Magic podcast next week. And as always, be well, be love, be you, and be magic.
