A New Cycle of Light: Trusting the Pause
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
After nearly four years of sharing weekly episodes of Your Heart Magic, Dr. BethAnne is taking a sabbatical from the podcast.
In this heartfelt episode, she reflects on the courage it takes to listen when the soul asks us to pause, create more space, and release what has lovingly carried us through one season so something new can begin to emerge. She shares passages from Small Pearls Big Wisdom, thoughts on creativity and change, and the importance of resisting the urge to define what comes next before we are ready.
This is not an episode filled with final answers, but an invitation to trust the invisible pull of the heart, honor the bittersweet nature of transition, and remember that every ending holds the soil of a new beginning.
Thank you for listening, for sharing this journey, and for being part of Your Heart Magic. Until we meet again: be well, be love, be you, and be magic.

Welcome To Your Heart Magic
SPEAKER_00Aloha and welcome to Your Heart Magic, an illuminating space where psychology, spirituality, and heart wisdom meet. Here's your host, Dr. Bethane Kapansky Wright, author, psychologist, and spiritual educator.
SPEAKER_01Aloha, everybody. Welcome to Your Heart Magic. This is Dr. Bethane Kapansky Wright. I wanted to open today's episode with a passage from Small Pearls Big Wisdom. It's been a while since I've shared my work on the podcast, but today I just have a couple passages to share and a few words on growth and change and some words of the heart that I want to share as well. But first, before I dive into any of that, I want to share this passage from Small Pearls Big Wisdom. I've actually spoken about this passage before. I'm almost positive I've shared it on the podcast. And it's been a while, though, and it was really speaking to my heart today to open the episode
A New Cycle Of Light
SPEAKER_01with this. So this is called A New Cycle of Light. Small Pearls Big Wisdom is a 365 reflection on the heart of being human. So this is actually passage 365, and this is an excerpt from it. It starts with me quoting a poem that I once wrote years ago. But every ending is also the soil for a beginning. And so too do you have your own turn of seasons with permission to embrace the bittersweet diaphanous pain of change, finding gratitude for all that has been, and allowing what's next to begin to rearrange. For there is always something around the bend waiting to be discovered. And if you keep your heart open to life, you will see that there is more life waiting to be uncovered. Deep breath, chin up, hearts open wide, allow what's past to slip from your grasp and prepare to receive a new cycle of light. From sunshine and winter. I wrote those words after something ended that had comforted and contained me during a transitional time in my life. I felt a vast sense of emptiness that it had come to an end. I didn't quite know who I was or what was next without it taking up space in my life. Sometimes we want to hold on to what was. We might not even realize how much we're holding on until we feel an amorphous sense of loss and fear about how things seem to be changing before our eyes. It hurts our hearts to realize we can't do anything to stop the process. Letting go is not easy. It truly takes courage to live with an open heart, face and feel our feelings, and trust that when we release, we also receive there is no great secret to how we find this kind of courage. There is no magic elixir, easy answers, philosophy or belief system that negates our human necessity and soul responsibility of feeling grief, learning to tolerate the oceans of ambiguity, and choosing to move forward and trust. There is love though. There is always love, which helps soften the pain and supports us in finding hope and peace as we work on letting go. We can learn to embrace the diaphanous nature of change, find gratitude for all that has been, and allow ourselves to be rearranged as we allow what's past to slip from our grasp. And in so doing, we will keep finding in hundreds of shapes, surprises, and forms. The Akashic Records a few weeks back were talking about this idea of release to receive. And that was the last message that I did on this podcast. And I wanted to open with this passage today because over the last couple of weeks, that message has really hit my heart and it tapped into a deeper soul truth for me that speaks to a lot of things in my life at this time.
Announcing A Podcast Sabbatical
SPEAKER_01But one of the pieces that I came on here today to share is that I am going to be taking a sabbatical from your heart magic for a while. And so this will be my last episode for a while. And to be honest with you, I'm not sure if this is the last episode or if this is what a sabbatical is intended to be: a long pause and a rest and a break where things reform. And I feel inspired to restart the podcast. And I thought very carefully today about what to share and how to say it and how to speak to what's been on my heart at this time without over-explaining or over-sharing or over-interpreting things that I don't know I fully have words for yet. I often think when we're going through our own change and metamorphosis process, we feel that something's shifting inside of us. And we can feel these bits and pieces where things are loosening, or where we can feel something might be coming to an end, or we need to make a change. And I've spoken a lot on here over the years that oftentimes the temptation is this rush to interpret it and this rush to say, this is what this is, and here's how it's going to look. And I can't tell you any of that today. What I can say is that over the last, oh gosh, many months, uh, really the last year, maybe even a little bit longer, I've increasingly felt this call to create more space in my life and be more available to my own soul. It's in my heart to write. And I've written a lot of books in the past, and I have felt things shifting in me and new words that I want to say. And I'm a writer who's not writing. One of my biggest challenges with that is not only time, but oftentimes the solitude and the space to really tap into that deep space inside of me that I need to access in order to allow truth to come through. And as I have gone about this process over the last few months of doing reevaluation and looking at the many things that are filling my life, it's just been a big call to take a step back from a lot of that at this time. And I am fine. Uh, for anybody who's listening who knows me, I do not have some big mystery thing going on behind the scenes. I've got normal life stuff. I have things that I have talked about on the podcast with aging parents and aging animals and life stage things, but there's no big mystery behind the curtains or any kind of uh health issue or interpersonal crisis or anything like that that uh is a call to this. And it would be okay if there is. Sometimes we have those things in life that change our trajectory and it's appropriate to take a pause from what we've been doing. But I know personally some of you who listen. And so if that was at all a question mark, um I'm doing well. Thank you. And there's no big mystery happening, just more about diving into my own inner mysteries at this time.
Making Space For Writing
SPEAKER_01And I was reflecting today that as a creative, I've often thought that we feel called to create. We all do in our own ways. And I think oftentimes we get going with something, and it's an expression of who we are in the moment. It's an expression of our authentic truth. This podcast has always been an expression of my authentic truth. And I run it now for almost four years. I've only missed about three weeks, I think, during that time. Week by week, I've consistently put out a new episode, and they have ranged from all sorts of topics on the heart and creativity and spirituality, the Akashic records. I have shifted sometimes in tone, how I'm sharing things. We've done archetypes. There's definitely been a lot of really fun episodes that I've done over the past few years. And I always want to make sure there's a freshness and a vitality to my work and that it's coming from a heartfelt place inside of me. And I think I would tell anybody who was exploring their own creative path that sometimes it's a matter of showing up. Whether or not you feel like it, you just show up and you do the thing. And through that you grow and learn consistency and constancy and dedication to the craft. And I think it's often hard to know when we should just keep showing up and when we need to take a step back and really die for that truth. Is this coming from a soulful place inside of me? I personally value commitment. I value my commitments, and I value having a sense of constancy. And so it has always been important to me to be consistent on this podcast and not popcorn in and out as I wanted to, and to be somebody who felt like a sincere and dependable presence and to really stay in my integrity and to honor my word. And so I think it's been hard for me to tap into this deeper truth that maybe has been coming for a while for me, that I just need to uh take a pause for a while. I don't like to admit and stop doing something that I've started. That's one of my growth edges. And so this process has been one that for me is an invitation to self-grace and really an invitation to listening to my heart on the matter and really having to trust my spiritual guidance. And that's absolutely what I would teach on here. If you know me, you know that I love doing oracle card readings. And I have probably done like 20 plus over the last few weeks and a laughable amount, all sorts of different decks, different kinds of questions, but all getting at the same thing. And the guidance has been really consistent. And I did all the things I would teach anybody to do. I asked for signs, I did journaling, I've really stayed in my heart on the matter. I talked to a couple of the people who are nearest and dearest to me, and all of it kind of helped me come to this space of popping on here today and sharing what's on my heart and sharing where I'm at. And as I said earlier, I don't want a Russian interpretation of right now. And so I didn't want to say I'll be back in six months or give a timeline or anything like that. I just want to take the space to allow whatever's meant to come through at this time for me to come through. And ultimately, I'm going to take my own wisdom that I would tell anybody. I think anyone who has accessed my work in any way, whether you've worked with me one-on-one or read a book or listened to the podcast, knows that I'm a big believer in trusting the process and trusting that invisible pull of the soul.
Trusting The Soul’s Invisible Pull
SPEAKER_01That's really part of what our heart magic is all about. I've always seen the heart as this natural portal, a doorway that helps us tap into our deeper self, helps us tap into our soulful self. And when we're working with the inner self, the deeper self, the soulful self, the part of us that I think is very connected to our higher self and our spiritual path and our soul plan. That aspect of ourself often guides us intuitively to move in a direction when sometimes consciously we're not even sure what exactly is happening, why we're being called to do so. We don't always have the pieces. I think oftentimes we understand our journey in reverse and retroactively where we've experienced it. And then after we have felt called to make changes, we spend weeks or months or years sometimes, depending on what those changes are, understanding who we've become and why we felt called to take the steps that we took. And we see the bigger picture sometimes from further down our timelines than we're able to grasp in the moment. So there's a lot in the air for me right now with what's next creatively and spiritually.
Gratitude And How To Use Archives
SPEAKER_01But it has been such an honor and a privilege to make these episodes, to share them with you, to share my voice, to share my heart. I am so grateful for all the positive feedback that I've received and for all the time that somebody's taken a moment to share with me what the podcast meant to them, or that an episode helped them, or reach out and let me know. And I know there's some of you that I haven't met and I don't know, but I thank you as well for being here. And if for some reason you came late to the podcast and just found this and you're stumbling on and uh new episodes aren't coming out, there's almost four years of archives of all sorts of things from Akashic Records to spiritual growth. And I think even the weekly energy updates that I've been doing for about the last six months, there's so much wisdom that the Akashic Records share with us that I feel is guidance for life and extends far beyond the weekly energy. They are perhaps these navigation points that have helped us work with current energies. But I think that the truest spiritual wisdom is transcendent and it applies well beyond what's happening in the sky at the moment or what is happening in the collective, but it gives us something that we can hold on to and take into our hearts and make it our own. So that is my wish that anything that has stood out to you, you take it and make it your own and alchemize it in your heart and uh may it support you and help nourish you on the
It’s Going To Be Beautiful
SPEAKER_01path. So I want to close today with one more passage from Small Pearls Big Wisdom. This is actually the epilogue. I actually squeezed in a 366 passage of the book by calling it an epilogue because when I got down to editing this book a couple of years back, I just had to put this one in here. It felt like a perfect ending. And I feel like this is a way to bring the podcast full circle today. So this is called It's Going to Be Beautiful. Guess what? Today is a spectacular day to be fully present in your life. Your life is happening right now. It's not happening back in the bittersweet memories of yesterday. It's not happening at a nebulous. I can finally be happy when a point in the future. This day is for you, this moment, this love, this present time. You may grieve for what is past, but know the ending is also the beginning. And today is your day for a new beginning. You are being called onwards, and life's ongoing, oroboris of love, and you are still journeying and exploring. So keep surrounding yourself with noble and beautiful things. Take a step today in a new direction. Do something that makes you smile. Tell somebody how much they matter to you, or sit in the rain and feel it fall on your face. Keep it simple, make it magical, look for tiny pockets of joy, make your own sunshine, or dive into your inner ocean to understand your emotional depths, buy yourself flowers, pet a fur friend, dance in nature, laugh in the snow, discover courage and change, find the sacred and the mundane. Whatever you do, remember that any day, every day, this day, today is your day, bright one. And we, life, the universe, humanity, your loved ones, your higher self, are all so glad you are here. Welcome to your seat at the great tea party of life. Take a moment, have a cupcake to celebrate, and then get going. For don't you know, dear soul, magical things are waiting to happen for you. Today is your day. It's going to be beautiful.
