Aloha, everybody. This is Dr. Bethan Kapansky Wright, and welcome to Your Heart Magic. It has been a minute, and it is good to be back with you. Regular listeners of the podcast know that I stepped away from the podcast at the end of July. I'd announced taking a sabbatical. And this is my first episode back. So I'm going to be easing into a new rhythm with the intention of sharing a monthly energy update here on the podcast. And if you are joining me through the Akashic Magic newsletter, welcome to you as well. I've been sharing written Akashic Energy updates for a long time and keeping a separate audio note on my website for the quarterly energy. And this month I'm rolling all of it together and bringing the energy update through on the podcast. And later in this episode, I am going to be sharing a little bit more about where my creative path has taken me during this pause.
But first, let's open up October's energy and dive in. When I opened the Akashic Records and asked about the energy moving through October, the first thing I felt was a sense of things coming together. The words were tightening and coalescing, as though some of the pieces we've been working with are beginning to find their places. Now that can show up in different ways. Maybe a decision has been made, and now you can see the path ahead a little more clearly. Maybe something you've been planning is beginning to take form, or perhaps an option that you thought would remain open is no longer available, and that brings a different kind of clarity. One you may need a little time to feel your way through. So I want to leave room for all of these experiences and individuals' unique experience of this, but the overall idea is things coming together. And remember that when something comes into focus, it isn't always because we got the answer we hoped for. Sometimes it's because life has shown us more about what is possible now. We might have had some options removed or gone down a different path, and we feel more empowered to work with what is. At the same time, this coming together energy is going on. It's not entirely predictable energy. There's a wildcard quality to the month, especially as we move further into the last part of the year. So things may be finding a shape, and there may still be an unexpected development within that shape. Both of those can be true. I personally found that to be an interesting balance of things being more cohesive and at the same time this wild card quality where it felt like something could come in a side door and surprise
us. When I asked the records for a word to describe this month, the word that came through was variations. And the image that I saw was an art exhibition. And I want you to imagine that you're walking through a collection where every painting shares a certain palette. Maybe the entire room is painted in shades of blue, and each piece is different, but there's a quality that holds them together, a cohesion. And after a while, your eye knows what to expect. Then you come upon one painting in a vivid, hot, bright, unexpected pink. And you might love the painting. You might stand there thinking, What in the world is this doing here? You might wish the whole room had stayed blue, but you notice it. You can't help but pause in front of it and pay attention. And it changes the way you see the collection and invites you to look again. That's the image I kept coming back to for October. That while some things may feel cohesive as though the pieces belong together, and you can begin to understand what they're making, that something enters in a color you didn't anticipate. And this could be an idea, an opportunity, a change of plans, or a circumstance you wouldn't have chosen. The records aren't asking us to value every part of that experience of variation equally. We don't have to like the surprise simply because it's here. We can appreciate what's coming together and still feel unsettled by the thing that interrupts the pattern. I think there's room for a very human response to both. But there is an invitation here to either notice what the unexpected color brings into view, does it ask us to reconsider an assumption? Does it open us to another possibility? Maybe we just need more time before we know what it means and we're still making sense of it. We don't have to answer immediately.
Diving into the guidance, we're moving with the energy this month. When I asked how we might navigate October, the first message that came through was to take intentional breaks. And it can be surprisingly easy to go from one thing to the next without ever really stepping away. There's always more information to take in or another message, another screen, another way to fill a quiet moment. And sometimes we have to be the one who stop the ride and step off for a little while. So that break is going to look different for each of us. You might go outside, put your phone away, listen to music, make something with your hands. Maybe you choose an activity that immerses you and draws you into your senses. You might simply sit still and just let your attention settle. There's no special way to get this right. The point is to notice when you need a different rhythm and give yourself permission to find one. The other piece of guidance to consider for this month is what you would still like to bring into form before the end of the year. So I want to say this gently. It's just about asking ourselves: is there something that matters to me that I'd like to make a little more room for? And that could be a creative project, a practical task. Maybe it's just taking a step to something that you really want to do and you do one concrete thing with making a plan or following through on that. You don't have to do everything. You might only choose one thing that you'd hope to do in 2026 and find a possible next step. Sometimes that's absolutely enough to keep bringing the essence of an idea into form. And then the last piece of guidance was to keep moving with the life that is here. The record spoke about letting go of the expectation that things need to return to some old version of normal before we can move forward. Life might continue to introduce unexpected variables for a while. I know it certainly has for myself. And we can adapt as we go, find the humor in the day-to-day when it's available, and let ourselves set a pace we can actually live with. So the image here was of returning to the puzzle of your life and putting in one piece at a time with the idea that you're also allowed to discover that you want to make a new puzzle. It doesn't have to be complete for the work you've done or the life you're living now to have value.
And then tying in a little bit of astro and moon information to all of this, there's an interesting rhythm to the month around this message. We begin in Libra season, which can invite reflection on balance, relationships, and the way we make room for different needs and perspectives. So that feels connected to October's unexpected color and this idea of can we hold what we expected, what is coming together, what is more cohesive alongside what actually happens over the next month and alongside whatever might be unexpected. The new moon falls on October 10th during Libra season. So if you love celebrating moon cycles and noting dates on a calendar, this could be a really quiet moment to ask what kind of balance you'd like to cultivate. And when we talk about the idea of balance, I actually love the word harmony even more than balance and bringing things into harmony and remembering that we want to create harmony for the life we actually have and not some idealized version of self or how we think our lives might be at some unknown point in the future, but just finding balance and harmony and a rhythm that helps sustain you, like right here, right now, wherever you're at. And then later in October, we're moving into Scorpio season. And I always feel like Scorpio is the sign of the psychologist, among many other things, but Scorpio is definitely about transformation and deep diving and looking under the surface of things. So to me, the shift feels like a movement beneath the surface and a willingness to look more honestly at what is changing and what matters to us and what we value, what is hidden, that's time to come out into the light. So no insights have to be forced with that. We can let things unfold as we move into Scorpio season later on in the month. And then we have a full moon happening right around October 25th, 26th, in Taurus. And Taurus full moons can always be a wonderful reminder just to come back to what's tangible: the body, the senses, the ground beneath you, your relationship with nature, your relationship with home, and the again, very tangible things that you might cherish that hold meaning for you, and the small things that help you feel supported with so much that might be shifting around us. I think a Taurus full moon could potentially feel grounding and it could be helpful to support us in noticing what helps us feel steady and anchored in the present. And remember, you don't need to do anything elaborate with these dates. I love myself a fun full moon reading or a little ritual when I'm in the mood for it. But sometimes just having them marked on the calendar or staying aware of them and taking a quiet moment of gratitude, a reflection, a couple words in a journal, a little bit of time in nature, gazing up at the full moon, or taking a mindful moment on the new moon to think about what's beginning in your life. All of those things can be enough. It does not have to be fancy to bring a sense of the sacred ordinary and the day-to-day.
Before I close today, I wanted to take a couple moments and share a little bit about my own creative path and a few thoughts from my heart. I took a step back from the weekly podcast at the end of July. And at the time, I really wasn't sure if I would be stepping back in or not. And if I did, what form it would take. And over the past few months, what has come back into my vision was to continue on with the podcast and for now bring through at least a monthly energy update with the potential in the future of doing perhaps little series of limited episodes or something where I might do a few in a row. But my intention right now is to be here monthly and bring through an energy update and some sort of creative reflection from the heart. And at the time that I took this step back, I'd said here that I really felt a calling to be more available to my soul and to listen and take time to write and have more time for my intuitive work and my own creative practices. And for about a week, I felt a little bit kind of free, uncertain, sad. All sorts of feelings came through when that last episode came out. And I tried to give myself space and I really had suspended expectation. I didn't think that I needed to reinvent myself right away or do some big thing. I wasn't looking to have anything to take its place. But what I really want to share that came through in about a week's time is I had a creative fire relit in me to get to work on these Oracle decks that I have been talking about on here. And I've shared cards from the Jewelry Box Oracle, the draft cards from the one that I've been working on. And what really surprised me is not only did that project reignite, but I had a whole other Oracle deck come through and then one on the heels of that. And so at present, I have about four or five Oracle decks in the work. Three of those are basically finished. They are in draft form and at least ready for the next stage of figuring out how to bring them into form and find a publishing path. And I'm currently looking at a mix of self-publishing for one of them and possible submission to publishers for two others. And in this time, I created my own tarot deck. And I'm super excited about that as well. I did a whole year and a half series on archetypes of the tarot a couple of years back. And I've long shared cards on the podcast, talked about tarot, and how we can use it to support our creative practices and our uh transformational readings in our journal, all sorts of things. So I have been busy the last few months and in this time of pause, really immersing myself back into my creativity. And a project that is especially close to my heart is the Flotsum and Jetsum Oracle. And this Oracle really helped me find my creative roots again and really brought me back into what it is to create for the joy of it and create from an intuitive space, and working on its cards and guidebook has just reminded me how much I love bringing images and words and intuition and the ordinary pieces of life together and making them magical through the mix. So there's been something really beautiful about this process. And I could go on and on and on and on about that, but I'm trying to keep this podcast succinct and respect everybody's time. But I have loved spending time with everyone through the podcast and through the Akashic newsletter. So I'm really glad to return to it in a way that gives the work and myself a little bit more breathing room. And for now, a monthly reflection that will come out on here on the podcast. There also will be a monthly newsletter as well. Feels like a good place to begin again. And I'm curious to see how it grows.
And that brings me to October's card from Flotsam and Jetsum. And the card is called A Sprig of Something New. I love this card alongside the energy that we've talked about today. A sprig isn't the whole tree. It doesn't have to ask for complete reinvention. It's just a small little sign of life, a little fresh growth, and an invitation to try something because it interests you or brings color into your day. So that's the card I chose to go with this monthly message. And the little blurb from the guidebook is keywords, curiosity, renewal, and possibility. You do not have to reinvent your life to invite fresh energy in. Try one small unfamiliar thing, a new idea, color, route, song, or perspective. A tiny experiment can remind you that the day is not fixed and possibility is still alive. And a journaling prompt or words to carry into the month ahead for you might be what small, playful or unfamiliar thing would I like to try? I am hoping by next month I will have information on where to purchase Flotsum and Jetsum. I am self-publishing this through a website that sets it up where I can sell it there. And my hope is by the time November's newsletter comes out, that that is ready to at least drop the link to for anyone who is a huge fan of Oracle cards and would like to add that one to your collection. For now, I'm just really excited to be able to share all this with you. And thank you for being here and for spending time with me. Whatever colors October brings, I hope you find moments to pause and notice what is taking shape and give yourself room to respond in your own way. Sending aloha to everyone, I will be back next month with a new podcast episode. And until next time, be well, be love, be you, and be magic.
